Sunday Night Football heads to Arrowhead Stadium as the Kansas City Chiefs (1-0) take on the Indianapolis Colts (0-1) in an AFC primetime showdown to conclude the day’s NFL slate.
The Chiefs are no strangers to playing primetime football, having already beaten AFC West rival Denver 31-10 on Monday Night Football in Week 1. After returning from the ACL injury he suffered toward the end of last season, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes showed no fear and scored the game’s first touchdown with his 15-yard run in the first quarter.
Kansas City’s defense put on a clinic, holding Denver to just nine first downs and 176 total yards of offense. Meanwhile, offseason signee and Super Bowl LX MVP running back Kenneth Walker III made a statement in his Chiefs debut, rushing for 173 yards and a touchdown while also adding 18 receiving yards and another score through the air.
The Colts dropped a tough one at home in a 41-23 loss to Baltimore, allowing Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson to throw for 324 yards and running back Derrick Henry to rush for 144 yards. Henry rushed for three touchdowns in the win, while Jackson threw for one and also ran for a score himself.
Colts running back Jonathan Taylor was a bright spot in the loss to Baltimore, averaging 5.2 yards per carry and rushing for two touchdowns, but he did lose a fumble in a game in which quarterback Daniel Jones also threw an interception. Indianapolis must do a better job of protecting the football Sunday night because giving Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offense extra opportunities isn’t a winning formula.
Colts vs. Chiefs Odds
Hard Rock Bet Sportsbook lists the Chiefs as sizable home favorites for Sunday Night Football at Arrowhead:
Best Player Prop and Touchdown Bets for Colts vs. Chiefs
Patrick Mahomes, Jonathan Taylor, Kenneth Walker III, Rashee Rice, Travis Kelce, and Tyler Warren are just some of the exciting and impactful players set to take the field Sunday night in Kansas City. Why not explore the player prop options available in the football betting markets at Hard Rock Bet Sportsbook? We’ve pulled together two of the best player props, including one touchdown bet, for the game using insights and trends from the Stats Hub:
Rashee Rice Over 4.5 Receptions (-125)
Rashee Rice wasn’t much of a factor in the Chiefs’ Week 1 win, catching both of his targets for 19 yards and a touchdown, but that’s because Kansas City leaned heavily on Kenneth Walker III in the run game. While he didn’t reach this mark last week, the Stats Hub does note that Rice has recorded four or more receptions in 22 of his last 24 appearances.
In fact, the Chiefs played the Colts as recently as last season, and Rice hauled in eight catches on 12 targets for 141 yards in a 23-20 overtime win in Week 12.
- Rashee Rice Over 4.5 Receptions (-125)
Kenneth Walker III Anytime Touchdown (-220)
Speaking of Walker, the Stats Hub notes that the running back has scored at least one touchdown in each of his last four home appearances. Obviously, that trend dates back to his time with Seattle since last week was his first home game as a member of the Chiefs.
But boy, was that a memorable first home game in a Chiefs uniform. We already mentioned his stats from Week 1 above, but it’s worth reiterating that Kansas City leaned on Walker early and often in the win over Denver. That could once again be the game plan in Week 2 against a Colts defense that allowed 202 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns to Baltimore last week.
- Kenneth Walker III Anytime Touchdown (-220)
