NFL Sunday is back with Week 2 action as the Houston Texans (0-1) are set to host the Cincinnati Bengals (1-0) for a 1 p.m. ET kickoff at Reliant Stadium.
The Bengals started the new season on the right foot with a 33-27 win over Tampa Bay in Week 1. Even with the victory, Cincinnati has plenty to improve upon as the season progresses, such as Joe Burrow protecting the football better after throwing an interception and All-Pro wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase getting more involved after catching just two passes for 12 yards on only four targets.
However, the Bengals have to be at least somewhat pleased with how their revamped defense performed, recording four sacks and forcing four turnovers, including Demetrius Knight Jr.’s fumble recovery for a touchdown in the first quarter.
The Texans, meanwhile, finished on the wrong end of a close, high-scoring battle with Buffalo in Week 1 with a 36-31 loss but have plenty to like moving forward. Fourth-year quarterback C.J. Stroud went toe-to-toe with 2024 NFL MVP Josh Allen, while offseason acquisition running back David Montgomery scored three total touchdowns.
It was against an extremely talented Buffalo offense, but Houston’s defense allowed 409 total yards after finishing as the No. 1-ranked unit a season ago and will need to limit the damage against another uber-talented Cincinnati offense to avoid dropping to 0-2 on Sunday.

C.J. Stroud Over 209.5 Passing Yards (-155)
Before we dive into this prop, we should mention that this is an alternate passing yards line for C.J. Stroud, which is slightly lower than his standard passing yardage line for Sunday’s matchup. This is because the Stats Hub notes that Stroud has recorded 207 or more passing yards in each of his 12 previous appearances with the Texans as favorites following a loss.
The Bengals’ defense was one of the worst in the NFL in 2025, and after making several notable additions during the offseason, the unit showed signs of improvement in Week 1. However, Tampa Bay quarterback Baker Mayfield still threw for 216 yards against Cincinnati.
Stroud completed 26 of 38 passes for 274 yards and two touchdowns last week against Buffalo, but it is worth mentioning that his No. 1 receiver, Nico Collins, has been ruled out with a hamstring injury.

Ja’Marr Chase was held to just two catches against Tampa Bay in Week 1 and was targeted only four times. Even though he’ll likely see a lot of All-Pro cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. on Sunday afternoon, Joe Burrow has to find ways to get his superstar receiver the ball to give the Bengals their best chance to win.
Chase has been among the NFL’s elite receivers ever since his rookie year in 2021, recording five consecutive 1,000-yard seasons to begin his career and making the Pro Bowl in each of them. He was also named the 2021 Offensive Rookie of the Year and has been selected as a First-Team All-Pro in each of the last two seasons. Chase has led the NFL in targets in each of the previous two seasons and also put together an incredible 2024 campaign in which he led the league in receptions (127), receiving yards (1,708), receiving touchdowns (17), receiving yards per game (100.5), and scrimmage yards per touch (13.4).
Again, it could be tough against this Texans defense, but that same unit allowed Buffalo tight end Dalton Kincaid and wide receiver DJ Moore to each record 100 or more receiving yards last week. The Stats Hub also notes that Chase has recorded 96 or more receiving yards in four of the Bengals’ last five games against AFC opponents as he looks to bounce back and become more involved in Week 2.
