The Jacksonville Jaguars make their first road trip of the season on Sunday afternoon when they head to Empower Field at Mile High for a matchup with the Denver Broncos. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. ET on CBS.

Jacksonville couldn’t have asked for a much better start to 2026. The Jaguars handled Cleveland 34-10 in Week 1, extending their regular season winning streak to nine games after closing last year as one of the hottest teams in the NFL.

Trevor Lawrence was sharp from the start, completing 18 of 23 passes for 245 yards and four touchdowns without an interception. Parker Washington led Jacksonville with five receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown, while Bhayshul Tuten carried 15 times for 66 yards as the Jaguars controlled the game on both sides of the ball.

Denver enters its home opener looking for a much different performance after a difficult Monday night in Kansas City. The Broncos were beaten 31-10 by the Chiefs and finished with just 176 total yards, as Bo Nix completed 17 of 28 passes for 131 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

The loss was a jarring start for a Denver team coming off a 14-3 season and an AFC West title. Much of the core from that team is back in 2026, giving the Broncos an experienced group to lean on as they try to make sure one poor showing in Kansas City doesn’t carry into their home opener.

There is also some recent history between these teams. Jacksonville visited Denver last December with the Broncos riding an 11-game winning streak and left with a 34-20 victory. The Jaguars were the only visiting team to win at Empower Field during the 2025 regular season, and Lawrence delivered one of his best performances of the year with 279 passing yards, three passing touchdowns and another score on the ground.

Now the Broncos return home looking to avenge last season’s loss and avoid an 0-2 start.

Best Bet for Jaguars vs. Broncos

Hard Rock Bet’s Stats Hub provides team trends, streaks and matchup info for every game on the NFL slate. Week 1 sent these teams in completely different directions, creating an opportunity to buy low on Denver:

Broncos -2.5 (-115): One game can create a major shift in perception, and that’s exactly what we’re dealing with here.

Jacksonville enters Week 2 after nearly everything went right against Cleveland, while Denver returns home after a rough night in Kansas City. The Jaguars deserve credit for their performance, but we’re not ready to draw sweeping conclusions from either result.

This is a much different assignment for Jacksonville. The Jaguars leave home for the first time this season and head into the altitude to face a Denver team coming off a 14-win campaign. The Broncos also have no shortage of reasons to be focused after losing to Jacksonville at home last December and opening this season with a disappointing divisional loss.

Ultimately, we’re being asked to lay less than a field goal with a Broncos team that went 8-1 at Empower Field last season, with Jacksonville responsible for the lone defeat. Rather than chase the Jaguars after an impressive opener or overreact to Denver’s performance at Arrowhead, we’ll back the Broncos to respond at home.

  • Best Bet: Broncos -2.5 (-115)
