History is within reach on Tuesday’s MLB slate as the Boston Red Sox (51-48) look to extend their winning streak to 15 games, tying the longest winning streak in franchise history, which was set in 1946. The Baltimore Orioles (49-52), however, will look to snap that streak and prevent their AL East rivals from making history.

The Orioles had a winning streak of their own snapped in Monday’s series opener, albeit a seven-game streak, as the Red Sox came away with a 6-5 victory. Baltimore took an early 1-0 lead on a first-inning RBI ground-rule double by Tyler O’Neill but soon fell behind 3-1 before reclaiming the lead and carrying a 5-4 advantage into the bottom of the seventh inning. However, Boston tied the game in the seventh before scoring what proved to be the game-winning run in the eighth to secure the victory.

While Red Sox rookie left-hander Payton Tolle didn’t necessarily have his best outing on Monday night, Boston’s magic continued with another come-from-behind win. After the Orioles took a 5-4 lead in the top of the seventh inning, Ceddanne Rafaela tied the game with an RBI single before Caleb Durbin played the hero with a clutch go-ahead solo home run in the eighth that ultimately proved to be the difference in the 6-5 win, extending Boston’s winning streak to 14 games.

The Red Sox are expected to send 23-year-old left-hander Eduardo Rivera to the mound Tuesday night in what will be just his fourth career MLB appearance and third career start. Rivera allowed just two hits and no runs over his first seven major league innings but surrendered three hits, two walks, and three earned runs in 2.1 innings during his most recent start on July 17. The Orioles are expected to counter with veteran right-hander Kyle Bradish, who is 6-9 with a 3.61 ERA through his first 19 starts this season.

There is rain in the forecast for Boston, so be sure to keep an eye on potential delays or even a postponement before first pitch.

Red Sox vs. Orioles Best Bet: Ceddanne Rafaela Over 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBI (-125)

While we could go with the Red Sox moneyline again, we’re instead looking to the player prop market. Ceddanne Rafaela has been hot at the plate and enters Tuesday riding an eight-game hitting streak. In fact, Boston’s center fielder has recorded at least one hit in 14 of the 15 games he’s played in during July.

In addition to piling up hits, Rafaela has been producing in other ways. The 25-year-old has scored a run in six straight games and has also driven in seven RBIs this month. He’s gone over 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBIs in 13 of his last 15 games and in roughly 56% of the games he’s played this season.

Rafaela already faced Kyle Bradish once this season on April 26, when he went 1-for-2 with a double against him. He finished that game 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.
