The Race to Dubai title is still up for grabs, and several of golf’s biggest names are heading to Abu Dhabi this week for the opening event of the DP World Tour Playoffs.
The 2026 Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship takes place Thursday, November 5 through Sunday, November 8 at Yas Links in the United Arab Emirates. The 70-player field will compete for a $9 million purse, with the top 50 available players in the season-long standings advancing to next week’s DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.
Eugenio Chacarra enters the playoffs atop the Race to Dubai standings following three victories this season, with Patrick Reed and Rory McIlroy occupying second and third place.
The Tour’s most recent event, the Genesis Championship in South Korea, featured Yuto Katsuragawa claiming his second DP World Tour title. He finished at 13-under to secure his place in the season-ending playoffs.
McIlroy Favored to Capture First Abu Dhabi Title
Rory McIlroy (+550) leads the betting market at Hard Rock Bet Sportsbook, followed by Tommy Fleetwood (+800) and Jon Rahm (+1200).
Despite his extensive success on the DP World Tour, McIlroy has never won the Abu Dhabi Championship. He has, however, finished runner-up four times and tied for third in each of the past two years at Yas Links.
McIlroy came particularly close last November, firing a final-round 62 to finish at 24-under, just one stroke behind Aaron Rai and Fleetwood.
Fleetwood has enjoyed his fair share of success in Abu Dhabi, winning consecutive titles in 2017 and 2018 when the tournament was held at Abu Dhabi Golf Club. Since the move to Yas Links, he has recorded a sixth-place finish in 2024 and a runner-up finish in 2025.
Rahm, meanwhile, will make his first appearance at Yas Links. The Spaniard has already won five Rolex Series tournaments and will look to establish a new record with a sixth victory.
Defending Champion Rai Among Leading Contenders
Three players share the fourth-shortest odds at +1600: veteran Adam Scott, defending champion Aaron Rai and Race to Dubai leader Eugenio Chacarra.
Rai took home last year’s championship in dramatic fashion, defeating Fleetwood with a birdie on the first playoff hole after both golfers finished regulation at 25-under. Rai is seeking to become the first player to successfully defend the Abu Dhabi title since Fleetwood did so back in 2018.
Chacarra arrives with three wins under his belt during the 2026 season, including last month’s DP World India Championship. He holds a 669-point advantage over Reed in the Race to Dubai standings as he pursues his first season-long title.
Kristoffer Reitan (+1750) and Tyrrell Hatton (+2000) are next on the board, followed by Daniel Hillier (+2250).
Hatton is another former Abu Dhabi champion, having won the tournament in 2021 at Abu Dhabi Golf Club. His record at Yas Links includes finishes of sixth in 2022, seventh in 2023 and second in 2024.
Patrick Reed and Jacob Skov Olesen are both listed at +2500, while Matt Wallace and former Abu Dhabi champion Victor Perez follow at +3000.
