The first NFL Sunday of the 2026-27 season continues with the 4 p.m. ET slate, featuring a matchup between the Miami Dolphins and Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium.
Las Vegas is entering a bit of a new era with Klint Kubiak taking over as head coach. While 2026 first overall pick Fernando Mendoza won’t be the starting quarterback on Sunday, veteran Kirk Cousins will be making his Raiders debut. Cousins will look to help turn around a Raiders team that won just three games a season ago and lead it into what the organization hopes will be a successful future.
The Dolphins are also entering a new era with a new-look coaching staff and roster. Former Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley is now the head coach, and former Packers backup quarterback Malik Willis is the new signal-caller after Miami moved on from Tua Tagovailoa during the offseason. It’s a young and inexperienced roster, but the NFL season is always full of surprises, and sometimes all a team needs is one thing to go its way to defy the odds. For the Dolphins, that could begin with a win over the Raiders on Sunday.

Raiders vs. Dolphins Best Bet: Under 40 (-110)
There is a lot of young and unproven talent on both rosters, and both teams underwent significant changes to their coaching staffs and personnel, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see an adjustment period on both sides. Yes, there was training camp and the preseason, but it can take time for players and coaches to find their rhythm and build chemistry.
Neither the Dolphins nor the Raiders are expected to contend this season, with both entering Week 1 with some of the longest Super Bowl odds among all 32 teams, further highlighting those concerns. The Raiders will also be without one of their top weapons in tight end Brock Bowers, who underwent a meniscus trim procedure on his knee.
Points may be hard to come by at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday.
