Following a league-wide night off for Election Day, the NBA returns Wednesday with a loaded 14-game slate, highlighted by a Texas showdown between the Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs at the Frost Bank Center.
The Spurs (5-2) enter this matchup riding a five-game winning streak, which began with a 122-106 victory over the Mavericks in Dallas on October 24. San Antonio has now won six consecutive meetings against its in-state rival and will look to extend both streaks on Wednesday night.
Dallas (4-3), on the other hand, is looking to bounce back from an embarrassing 115-100 home loss to Sacramento on Monday, which handed the previously winless Kings their first victory of the season. The Mavericks have now suffered two double-digit home defeats this season, including their earlier loss to San Antonio.
The Mavericks will have a different look for Wednesday’s rematch, however, with Cooper Flagg and Kyrie Irving expected to be available after both missed the first meeting.
Spurs vs. Mavericks Odds Today
The Spurs are listed as 12.5-point home favorites for Wednesday night’s matchup at Hard Rock Bet Sportsbook:
Spurs vs. Mavericks Best Bet
Mavericks +12.5 (-115): I’m backing Dallas +12.5 on Wednesday night.
I think we’re getting a favorable number here, especially considering the Mavericks had won three straight games before Monday’s setback, including a 24-point victory over Oklahoma City and a five-point win over Houston.
San Antonio has been clicking on all cylinders as of late, but it’s worth noting that four of the five wins during their ongoing streak came against Utah twice, Sacramento and Dallas without its top two players.
Dallas has now had a day off to regroup following that loss to the Kings, and I expect a much more competitive effort this time around. I’m not necessarily calling for an outright upset, but I like the Mavericks to keep this one close with Irving and Flagg back in the lineup.
