The 2026-27 NBA season tips off this afternoon in Detroit, Michigan, as the Pistons welcome the Boston Celtics to Little Caesars Arena for a 3 p.m. ET matchup.
The Celtics will look a little different this season after a shocking blockbuster trade sent five-time All-Star and 2023-24 NBA Finals MVP Jaylen Brown to rival Philadelphia in exchange for veteran Paul George and multiple draft picks. Ironically, No. 2-seeded Boston was eliminated from the 2025-26 NBA Playoffs by No. 7-seeded Philadelphia. However, the Celtics still believe they have the talent to contend with Jayson Tatum leading the way, even with Brown out of the picture.
The Pistons are looking to build on their impressive season and prove it wasn’t a fluke. After snapping a five-year playoff drought in J.B. Bickerstaff’s first year as head coach with a 44-win season in 2024-25, Detroit exceeded expectations last season. The Pistons posted a 60-22 record en route to the Eastern Conference’s No. 1 seed and finished one win away from reaching the Conference Finals.

Collins has averaged 7.7 rebounds per game through the first nine years of his career, including a career-high 10.1 per game in 41 contests with Atlanta during the 2019-20 season. Prior to last season, he averaged at least 6.5 rebounds per game in each of his first eight NBA seasons before posting a career-low 5.3 per game in 69 appearances with the Clippers.
Even so, Collins has averaged more than 4.5 rebounds per game every season of his career and is riding a 10-game streak of recording seven or more rebounds at Little Caesars Arena, according to the Stats Hub.
