Derrick Henry Anytime Touchdown (+125)

Derrick Henry is going to have to step up and lead the Ravens’ offense Thursday night if Baltimore wants to have a chance at winning this game. We’ll get into more detail below, but the Ravens will be starting undrafted rookie quarterback Joe Fagnano, who entered last week’s game against Buffalo and is now set to make his first career NFL start.

Nothing will come easy for Henry against one of the better defenses in the league, which isn’t encouraging considering he’s averaged just 52 rushing yards per game over the last three weeks. Jacksonville is notably allowing the fewest rushing yards per game in the NFL this season, but Henry doesn’t necessarily need a big rushing performance to cash this pick. He just needs to find the end zone.

Henry recorded seven rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown through the first five weeks of the season, scoring at least once in each of those games. He was held out of the end zone in Weeks 6 and 7 but scored his eighth rushing touchdown of the year this past Sunday against Buffalo.

Jacksonville has allowed only four rushing touchdowns through its first seven games, but the Stats Hub notes that Henry has scored at least one touchdown in each of the Ravens’ last six night games at M&T Bank Stadium. This should be a great in-game matchup to watch, but it goes without saying that Henry needs to be a major factor for Baltimore on Thursday night.

Brenton Strange Over 33.5 Receiving Yards (-115)

Baltimore’s defense has been average at best this season and is about to face a Jaguars team that scored 42 points in Week 8 and is averaging 28 points per game, the fifth most in the NFL. Jacksonville has plenty of offensive weapons, but for this pick, we’re focusing on tight end Brenton Strange.

Strange leads the Jaguars with 28 receptions this season and ranks second on the team in both targets and receiving yards behind wide receiver Parker Washington. He’s been a go-to target for quarterback Trevor Lawrence, and that should continue Thursday night.

Tight ends have had their fair share of success against Baltimore’s defense this year. Buffalo’s Dalton Kincaid recorded 86 yards and a touchdown just last week, for example. Other notable performances include Cincinnati’s tight ends combining for 56 yards and two touchdowns, Atlanta’s Kyle Pitts Sr. recording 42 yards and a touchdown, and New Orleans’ Juwan Johnson going for 66 yards back in Week 2.

Strange caught two passes for 55 yards, including a 46-yard reception, last week against Indianapolis. The Stats Hub also notes that he has recorded 44 or more receiving yards in each of the Jaguars’ last four games.

Jaguars vs. Ravens Preview for TNF

The Jaguars are coming off a dominant 42-7 win over AFC South rival Indianapolis in Week 8 and are looking like one of the top contenders in the AFC right now. In fact, Jacksonville’s Super Bowl odds have shortened to +800 heading into Week 9 after opening at +2000.

Indianapolis was no match for Jacksonville in that matchup. Trevor Lawrence attempted only 14 passes but still threw for 210 yards and three touchdowns. The Jaguars’ run game also rushed for 183 yards and two touchdowns, led by Bhayshul Tuten, while Rayuan Lane III added a 92-yard pick-six.

Keep an eye on Tuten’s status as kickoff approaches, as the Jaguars’ starting running back is listed as questionable with ankle and foot injuries. He didn’t practice all week and is considered a game-time decision.

It hasn’t been as pretty for Baltimore. Two-time MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson left the Ravens’ Week 4 game against Tennessee just before halftime with an ankle injury and did not return. He went on to miss the next three games with an ankle sprain, during which the Ravens went 1-2 with backup Tyler Huntley.

Jackson finally returned in Week 8, but he quickly suffered a thumb injury on the Ravens’ first offensive play against Buffalo, forcing him to miss the remainder of the game. As if things couldn’t get any worse, Huntley suffered a toe injury in that same game, meaning Ravens undrafted rookie and emergency quarterback Joe Fagnano had to enter and finish the game.

Fagnano completed 10 of 21 passes for 91 yards, threw an interception, and lost a fumble in the 36-10 loss to Buffalo. Jackson was placed on injured reserve following Week 8, while Huntley suffered a season-ending turf toe injury.

The Ravens are reportedly finalizing a trade to acquire veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett from Arizona, who was benched against Dallas in Week 8. However, that doesn’t change Baltimore’s quarterback situation for Week 9, as Fagnano is still set to start Thursday night.

This Thursday Night Football matchup may not look like what it was supposed to heading into the season, but anything can happen in the NFL, so the Jaguars can’t afford to overlook this Ravens team.
