Thursday Night Football heads to Denver, Colorado, as the Broncos (3-2) host the Seattle Seahawks (3-2) at Empower Field at Mile High in an NFC vs. AFC showdown to kick off NFL Week 6.

The defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks overcame early-season adversity when quarterback Sam Darnold suffered a glute injury on just the fifth play of Seattle’s regular season opener against New England. Darnold left the game and subsequently missed the following week against Arizona, but backup quarterback Drew Lock and the Seahawks still managed to weather the storm and begin the season 2-0.

The Seahawks then suffered a tough road loss against Washington in Darnold’s return in Week 3, followed by a win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4 and another tough loss, this time at home against NFC West rival San Francisco, this past Sunday.

The Broncos have gone through an early-season gauntlet, having already faced Kansas City, Jacksonville, the Los Angeles Rams, and San Francisco. Denver went 2-2 in those games before improving to 3-2 with a 23-17 road win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 5. The Broncos trailed 17-10 against the Chargers but scored 13 unanswered fourth-quarter points to keep their AFC West rivals winless on the season.

Sam Darnold Over 1.5 Passing Touchdowns (+120)

Sam Darnold essentially missed the first two weeks of the season due to injury, but he returned and threw four touchdown passes against Washington in Week 3 and two more against the Chargers in Week 4. He didn’t have his best performance this past Sunday against a tough San Francisco defense, and he’s set to face another strong unit Thursday night. However, he could find more success than he did last week.

The Broncos will be without All-Pro cornerback and 2024 Defensive Player of the Year Patrick Surtain II, as well as All-Pro safety Talanoa Hufanga, for Thursday Night Football. Cornerback Riley Moss also carries a questionable designation after being limited in practice this week with a rib injury.

Those are key injuries to Denver’s defense and could result in a more favorable matchup for Darnold, whose 25 touchdown passes last season were tied for the eighth most in the NFL. That followed his breakout 2024 season with Minnesota, when he threw 35 touchdown passes, the fourth most in the league.

The Stats Hub notes that Darnold has thrown two or more touchdowns in seven of his last eight appearances following a loss.

  • Sam Darnold Over 1.5 Passing Touchdowns (+120)

Jaxon Smith-Njigba Anytime Touchdown (+100)

If Darnold is going to be throwing touchdown passes against this Denver defense Thursday night, the likely recipient will be his No. 1 guy, Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Smith-Njigba was named the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year in 2025 after leading the league with 1,793 receiving yards, while his 10 touchdown catches were tied for the third most.

Smith-Njigba has picked up right where he left off, leading the NFL with 583 receiving yards, seven receiving touchdowns, and nine receptions of 20 or more yards heading into Week 6. He’s a walking highlight reel and a big-play machine.

The Stats Hub notes that Smith-Njigba has scored at least one touchdown in four of the Seahawks’ last five games. Normally, this would be a tough matchup, but with Surtain and Hufanga ruled out and Moss banged up, it’s hard to go wrong with picking Smith-Njigba to find the end zone.

  • Jaxon Smith-Njigba Anytime Touchdown (+100)

J.K. Dobbins Over 49.5 Rushing Yards (-115)

The Broncos would love to get running back J.K. Dobbins going. The veteran has proven to be a dangerous weapon when healthy, but he hasn’t had much success through the first five weeks of the season.

Dobbins is, however, coming off his best performance of the year, carrying the ball 18 times for 68 yards and a touchdown this past Sunday against the Chargers. Prior to that, his season high for rushing yards in a game was 49 in Week 3 against the Rams.

Seattle features a very good defense and has played well against the run, but that doesn’t mean Dobbins can’t find some success, especially if Denver can get him into a rhythm early.

The Seahawks allowed New England running back Rhamondre Stevenson to rush for 51 yards in Week 1, while Arizona’s trio of Jeremiyah Love, Bam Knight, and Tyler Allgeier combined for 63 yards in Week 2. Washington’s Jacory Croskey-Merritt and Rachaad White totaled 71 rushing yards in Week 3, followed by 109 combined yards from the Chargers’ Omarion Hampton, Keaton Mitchell, and Kimani Vidal in Week 4. Most recently, San Francisco running back Christian McCaffrey rushed for 68 yards against Seattle in Week 5.

While it’s not quite 50 yards, the Stats Hub notes that Dobbins has recorded 40 or more rushing yards in each of his last nine appearances against NFC opponents.

  • J.K. Dobbins Over 49.5 Rushing Yards (-115)
