The battle to win the Western Conference is tight heading into Game 5. The series is tied at two games apiece between the San Antonio Spurs and the Oklahoma City Thunder, with the series shifting back to Paycom Center on Tuesday night.

Not only were the Thunder and Spurs the top two teams in the conference heading into the playoffs, but they also finished with the two best records in the NBA. Both teams were so dominant during the regular season that many believe the eventual NBA champion will be either the defending champion Thunder or the Spurs.

The Spurs picked up a double-overtime win in Game 1 behind Victor Wembanyama’s dominant 41-point, 24-rebound performance, handing the Thunder their first loss of the postseason. Oklahoma City, however, responded with back-to-back wins, including a 15-point victory in Game 3. San Antonio evened the series with a 21-point win in Game 4 at home in a game where the Thunder shot just 33% from the field and 18% from three-point range, failed to have a single player score 20 points, and turned the ball over 17 times.

Both teams have shown their dominance, but they’ve also revealed weaknesses at times. One thing is certain: one team will take a crucial 3-2 series lead Tuesday night, putting pressure on the other heading into Game 6 in San Antonio.

Below are two picks featured in the Stats Hub:

Spurs vs. Thunder Best Bet: De’Aaron Fox Over 3.5 Rebounds

De’Aaron Fox missed the first two games of the Western Conference Finals due to injury, but the All-Star point guard has returned and played more than 30 minutes in each of the last two games.

Guards aren’t typically known for their rebounding ability, but Fox has posted impressive numbers in that category recently. He has recorded four or more rebounds in each of his last five games, including seven in Game 3 and 10 in Game 4 against the Thunder following his return from injury.

It’s worth considering Fox’s rebound total for Game 5, especially since he has gone over 3.5 rebounds in eight of the 13 games he has played this postseason.

  • Spurs vs. Thunder Game 5 Player Prop Pick: De’Aaron Fox Over 3.5 Rebounds (-155)

De'Aaron Fox May 26 Stats Hub Rebounds

Spurs vs. Thunder Best Bet: Julian Champagnie Over 1.5 Assists

Although this pick has hit in four of his last five games, Julian Champagnie’s assists line for Game 5 still carries some risk.

Champagnie averaged just 1.5 assists per game during the regular season and is averaging the same mark during the playoffs. He has gone over 1.5 assists in nine of the Spurs’ 15 playoff games but has also failed to record an assist in four contests.

If you’re looking for a plus-money play, Champagnie to record over 1.5 assists in Game 5 could offer value based on his recent production, though it remains a tight line.
