Week 7 of the NFL is over and done with, and the Survivor field has taken another serious hit. 25,970 players entered the week, but only 13,733 are moving on to Week 8 after more favorites fell across the league.
That’s another 12,237 entries eliminated from Hard Rock Bet’s $2 Million NFL Survivor contest – nearly half the remaining field. Houston and the Jets did the most damage among the popular picks, while Denver, Minnesota, and Dallas delivered a ticket to Week 8.
Let’s break down the Week 7 results.
The Most Popular Picks: NFL Survivor Week 7
The ownership was pretty evenly dispersed this week with five teams attracted more than 10% of the week’s picks. Just three advanced…
Houston Texans – 4,128 Picks / 16.9% Pick Rate ❌
The most popular pick of the week became its biggest Survivor casualty.
4,128 players put their hopes in Houston, making the Texans the only team to attract more than 4,000 selections. Instead of booking a place in Week 8, those entrants watched their runs come to an end.
Another week, another reminder that the chalk doesn’t always survive.
Through three weeks of writing Survivor Strategy columns there admittedly hasn’t been much victory lapping… but if you read my Week 7 Survivor Strategy column last week you may have seen my pessimism for Houston and managed to dodge this one.
Denver Broncos – 3,237 Picks / 13.3% Pick Rate ✅
Denver backers can breathe easy – for now.
The Broncos were the second-most popular selection of Week 7 and delivered the result 3,237 players needed to stay in contention. Among the five teams above a 10% pick rate, Denver advanced the largest group.
New York Jets – 3,192 Picks / 13.1% Pick Rate ❌
Houston wasn’t the only popular pick to send thousands of players packing.
The Jets attracted 3,192 selections, just behind Denver, but their loss brought those Survivor runs to an abrupt end.
Nearly 60% of the week’s total exits were due to either New York or Houston, and if you avoided both, you cleared two of Week 7’s biggest traps.
It was a bold call and it didn’t work out, but I applaud those who made it. There’s a long way to go here and you have to play to win.
Minnesota Vikings – 2,948 Picks / 12.1% Pick Rate ✅
Minnesota kept 2,948 entries alive with a win, rewarding the fourth-most popular selection of the week.
The assignment was simple: survive Sunday and worry about the next pick later. Mission accomplished, even if it wasn’t the prettiest win.
Dallas Cowboys – 2,668 Picks / 10.9% Pick Rate ✅
Dallas rounded out the teams with double-digit pick rates, carrying 2,668 players into Week 8. It was close against the Eagles for three quarters, but the Cowboys had enough muscle to open up a comfortable gap late and secure the win.
This was also a popular selection because of it’s Monday night status – most players who may have forgotten to submit a pick for Sunday would have ended up on Dallas.
Week 8 Winners’ Share: $145.63
With the field shrinking from 25,970 to 13,733, the potential prize share for each surviving entry has risen from $77.01 to $145.63 – an increase of approximately 89%.
That figure represents an equal split of the $2 million prize among the current survivors. The final share will depend on how many entries remain at the end of Week 17 – so there’s a long way to go.
If you’re still alive, don’t forget to submit your Week 8 pick. The easiest way to lose is not to make a pick.
I’ll check back in later this week with Week 8 ownership data and Survivor strategy, but for now, if you’re still in – enjoy it.
