We are back with another edition of Leading Off, with another pair of Hard Rock Best Bets of the Day.
We’re both targeting the same Marlins-Astros matchup, but with different angles. One of us is backing a strikeout prop, while the other is expecting a low-scoring start behind a pair of starting pitchers capable of settling in early.
Scott Bogman’s Best Bet: Peter Lambert Over 5.5 K’s (+110)
I’m taking Peter Lambert over 5.5 strikeouts vs. Miami.
Ronel Blanco and Tatsuya Imai both struck out eight against Miami. Lambert has recorded six or more strikeouts in four of his last five starts. I was at one of those.
Lambert has been on a nice streak. Just get him out of Colorado. He’s been really good in Houston.
Chris Welsh’s Best Bet: Marlins vs. Astros F5 Total Runs Under 4.5 (-125)
I was just staring at this one, but what I ended up going with is because I am so ridiculously impressed with Peter Lambert and how he’s pitched. You’ve also got Sandy Alcántara on the other side, who definitely has his moments. You know, those moments in the sun where he goes seven innings, gives up no earned runs, and then other times he gets blown up.
I just really like the pitching matchup, and I decided to play the first five under. I thought this was a decent number where you can take the Marlins-Astros first five innings total under 4.5 runs at -125 through Hard Rock Bet.
I’ll throw it out to you – if you want to do 3.5, you can. But I think there’s a little more cushion with this one.
I think the full-game run total is obviously nine, so they’re willing to let you play this. Or, if you can find it lower and this number trends down, you’re going to get a better return because that -125 price is going to go up.
But I just think this is all about the pitching. I think both of these pitchers are going to be able to shut things down early on. We’re not playing into the bullpen, so I’m taking the first five under 4.5 runs at -125 for my Hard Rock Best Bet of the Day.
