A four-game series continues in Cincinnati, Ohio, as the Reds (70-80) host the Los Angeles Dodgers (91-59) for Game 2 tonight at Great American Ball Park. The Dodgers picked up a 4-1 win in the series opener Monday, and with that victory, the defending back-to-back World Series champions clinched their 14th consecutive playoff appearance, tying the Atlanta Braves for the longest streak in MLB history.

The Dodgers were coming off two straight losses in a three-game series loss to Miami, but Tarik Skubal helped stop the bleeding by pitching an absolute gem Monday night against Cincinnati. The two-time Cy Young Award winner tossed seven scoreless innings and recorded nine strikeouts. Kyle Tucker got Los Angeles on the board early with a solo home run in the second inning before Teoscar Hernández launched a two-run shot in the fourth, and Enrique Hernández added another insurance run with an RBI single in the seventh.

The Dodgers will now turn to another elite starting pitcher, with two-time All-Star right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto getting the start tonight. Yamamoto is 13-8 with a 2.62 ERA and a 0.88 WHIP this season and just pitched seven innings of one-run baseball with 10 strikeouts in a win against Cincinnati on Sept. 9. Rookie right-hander Rhett Lowder is scheduled to make the start for the Reds. He’s 6-10 with a 5.81 ERA this year, including an 0-2 record with a 15.95 ERA through his first two starts of September.

Dodgers vs. Reds Predictions

Time is running out on the 2026 MLB regular season, so make sure to get in on the baseball betting action at Hard Rock Bet Sportsbook while you still can. Our Dodgers vs. Reds prediction below can be found with supporting insights and trends in the Stats Hub:

Reds vs. Dodgers Best Bet: Teoscar Hernández Over 0.5 RBIs (+135)

Teoscar Hernández is a bona fide Reds killer. The veteran outfielder is a career .363 hitter with a 1.063 OPS in 23 regular-season games against Cincinnati, and if you remember back to last year’s playoffs, he went 4-for-10 with a double, two home runs, and six RBIs in the Dodgers’ Wild Card Series win over the Reds.

That success has been in full force in 2026 as well. The Dodgers and Reds just played a three-game series in Los Angeles last week, and Hernández was a large reason the Dodgers completed the sweep.

Hernández went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run in the opener of that series on Sept. 7 and followed that up with a 3-for-3 performance with a triple and an RBI single the next day. In the series finale, Hernández and the Dodgers faced Tuesday night’s starter Rhett Lowder and absolutely poured on the hits and runs against the young right-hander over his 3.1 innings of work. While Hernández went 1-for-2 against Lowder specifically in that game, he also hit a two-RBI single just a few batters later after Lowder was replaced by a reliever.

Hernández is scorching hot, batting .405 with 14 RBIs so far in September, and he also went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Monday’s series-opening win in Cincinnati. The Stats Hub notes that Hernández has recorded at least one RBI in each of the Dodgers’ last six games against the Reds.
