Best Player Prop and Touchdown Bets for Panthers vs. Packers

Below are two of the best player prop bets for Panthers vs. Packers, including an anytime touchdown prediction, using football betting insights and trends from the Stats Hub at Hard Rock Bet Sportsbook:

Josh Jacobs Over 61.5 Rushing Yards (-115)

Josh Jacobs was removed from the Commissioner’s Exempt List ahead of Week 7 after being unable to play in the Packers’ first six games and made his season debut this past Sunday against Detroit. Jacobs played 52% of Green Bay’s offensive snaps in the 20-17 loss, carrying the ball 11 times for 36 yards while also catching five passes for 55 yards and a touchdown.

Jacobs should be more involved in Week 8 and beyond as he gets back into the swing of things and looks to improve Green Bay’s bottom-ranked run game this year. Thursday night offers a perfect opportunity to do so, as Carolina’s defense has allowed the most rushing yards per game in the NFL this season.

Another factor in Jacobs’ favor is that Carolina outside linebacker Jaelan Phillips has been ruled out for Thursday Night Football with a hamstring injury. Phillips is a strong run defender, so his absence could create even more opportunities for Jacobs to find success on the ground.

The Stats Hub notes that Jacobs has recorded 51 or more rushing yards in 14 of his last 15 home appearances against conference opponents. His line is set at 61.5 rushing yards, but Hard Rock Bet Sportsbook also offers a To Record 50+ Rush Yards market priced at -220 if you feel more comfortable aligning with the Stats Hub’s trend.

  • Josh Jacobs Over 61.5 Rushing Yards (-115)

Chuba Hubbard Anytime Touchdown (-115)

Chuba Hubbard had his least productive game of the season in the Panthers’ 43-13 loss to Tampa Bay in Week 7, but he’s still having a very good year. Hubbard has 459 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns while also contributing as a receiver with 112 receiving yards and two more scores through his first six games.

That’s what makes Hubbard an even more intriguing option to find the end zone Thursday night. He can score on the ground or through the air, and the Stats Hub notes that he has scored at least one touchdown in five of the Panthers’ last six games against NFC opponents.

The challenge is that Green Bay’s defense has been much better against the run than Carolina’s this season, although it’s far from the best unit in the league. However, there’s still plenty of reason to believe Hubbard can score against the Packers on Thursday Night Football.

Minnesota running backs Jordan Mason and Aaron Jones Sr. both scored touchdowns against Green Bay in Week 1, while New York Jets running back Braelon Allen found the end zone in Week 2. Atlanta’s Bijan Robinson scored twice in Week 3, and his backup, Brian Robinson Jr., also rushed for a touchdown.

Tampa Bay running back Sean Tucker had a rushing touchdown in Week 4, while teammate Kenny Gainwell caught a touchdown pass. Chicago’s D’Andre Swift rushed for a score in Week 5, and Dallas’ Javonte Williams found the end zone against Green Bay in Week 6.

Detroit star running back Jahmyr Gibbs didn’t score a touchdown against Green Bay in Week 7, but he still had plenty of success, totaling 143 yards despite not finding the end zone.

Panthers vs. Packers Preview for TNF

The NFC South-leading Panthers will try to get above the .500 mark with a win Thursday night. Carolina had its two-game winning streak snapped this past Sunday in a disappointing 43-13 home loss to Tampa Bay and now has to head to Lambeau Field to try to get back on track.

Despite holding Tampa Bay quarterback Baker Mayfield to just 64 passing yards last week, the Panthers allowed 258 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns in the loss. It didn’t help that Carolina turned the ball over four times, with quarterback Bryce Young accounting for three of them, including a strip-sack fumble that resulted in a scoop-and-score touchdown for Tampa Bay.

The Packers started the season slowly with a 1-2 record but then went on a three-game winning streak before it was snapped last week in a 20-17 loss to NFC North rival Detroit. Unfortunately for Green Bay, it plays in a tough division that includes an undefeated Minnesota team, meaning the Packers enter Week 8 in last place despite their 4-3 record.

Green Bay had opportunities to win against Detroit but couldn’t capitalize to keep its winning streak alive. Packers rookie kicker Trey Smack notably missed a 26-yard field goal on the game’s opening possession and later had a potential go-ahead 35-yard field goal blocked with just over three minutes remaining. Detroit then moved into field goal range and kicked the game-winner as time expired.

Thursday night’s game is crucial for the Packers to keep pace in a crowded NFC North, while the Panthers look to respond after an embarrassing loss last week and prove they can be serious contenders in the NFC.
