Before Ariana and Ron were creating casino videos together, they were on a first date that neither wanted to end.
The restaurant was closing, the conversation was flowing, and they were trying to decide where to go next. Then they both asked the same question:
“Do you like to gamble?”
A trip to a casino followed. More than 14 years later, the Florida couple behind Jackpot Beauties has turned that shared interest into thousands of videos and a community of viewers who follow their casino experiences.
We caught up with Ariana to discuss how the channel began, the games she enjoys and why showing the losses matters just as much as sharing the wins.
From Watching Slot Videos to Making Their Own
The idea for a channel started with Ron watching slot videos at night. Ariana initially wondered why he wanted to watch someone else play when he could visit a casino himself.
He explained that the videos offered more than a look at individual games. Viewers could explore different casino properties, see bonus features and connect with people who shared their interests.
Eventually, Ron suggested they start recording their own experiences.
They launched around the beginning of 2020, just as the COVID-19 pandemic made filming and creating content difficult. Early videos at Hard Rock Tampa were largely limited to bonus footage because they did not yet have full filming approval.
By late 2020 and into 2021, they were able to film more extensively. Then came a memorable moment on a Game of Thrones slot: a dragon appeared, breathed fire and delivered a $14,000 jackpot.
“That really put our channel on the map,” Ariana said.
The video gave the couple a sense that their project could grow beyond a hobby. Around 2,000 uploads later, they have plenty of experiences to share.
Showing the Losses Alongside the Wins
Big jackpots make memorable videos, but Ariana says they are only part of the story.
“For us, showing both wins and losses is non-negotiable because that’s the reality of gambling.”
Ariana and Ron want viewers to enjoy the experience while understanding that a video featuring a big win does not represent what someone should expect from their own session.
“Our videos are for entertainment,” she said.
Ariana emphasizes playing within a budget, recognizing the possibility of losing and understanding that no slots strategy or formula can beat the slots. Outcomes are random, and watching someone else win does not predict what will happen when you play.
For the couple, sharing losing sessions helps give viewers a fuller picture of their casino visits.
Favorite Games and Finding Something New
Ask Ariana about her favorite games, and several familiar names come up: Dragon Link, Phoenix Link and Buffalo Link.
She also enjoys Buffalo games on casino floors and through Hard Rock Bet Online Casino, along with Mystery of the Lamp, a longtime favorite the couple featured early in their partnership with IGT.
Still, variety is an important part of the channel. Ariana and Ron make a point of exploring new games rather than filming only their established favorites, giving viewers a closer look at a each game’s features so they can decide whether it interests them.
“There are so many slot machines, and walking into a casino can be an overwhelming experience because there’s so much stimulation,” Ariana said.
Their videos give viewers a chance to see different games in action and discover what appeals to them, without suggesting that familiarity with a game makes its results predictable.
Setting a Budget and Knowing When to Take a Break
When it comes to managing the emotions of gambling, Ariana’s advice starts before the first wager: decide what you can afford to spend.
She compares a gambling budget to having money set aside for dinner or tickets to a show. It is an entertainment expense, and any amount committed to playing should be money you can afford to lose.
Gambling together also gives Ariana and Ron someone to check in with. If one is considering putting more money into a machine, the other can help reinforce the budget they agreed on.
“Having that buddy system works well for us,” she said.
They also have a personal routine of taking a break after losing on three consecutive machines. Sometimes that means ending the session for the day. It is their cue to step away, rather than a way to predict what the next machine will do.
At a casino resort, that break might include dinner, shopping, a spa visit or a show.
“There’s so much else to enjoy at a casino resort,” Ariana said.
The broader message is straightforward: establish limits, stick to them and take time away from gambling.
The People Behind the Views
While their channel has provided so many memorable moments with the games, Ariana says connecting with viewers is the most rewarding part of creating videos.
The channel has given her and Ron a way to share their experiences with people who enjoy the same games, properties and entertainment.
That connection brings the story back to where it started: two people discovering a shared interest and finding plenty to talk about.
Today, their audience gets to join the conversation, with the winning sessions, losing sessions and everything that makes up a casino visit.
