The Tampa Bay Rays (76-51) and Baltimore Orioles (61-67) are back at it after wrapping up a four-game series in Florida that concluded earlier this week on Monday. This time, the AL East rivals will take the field in Baltimore on Friday night for the start of a three-game series at Camden Yards. The Orioles won that series 3-1 and lead the season series 6-4 heading into their final meeting of the 2026 regular season.

The Orioles are coming off a tough series in which they were swept in three games by the New York Yankees. Although they’re on a four-game losing streak entering Friday, Baltimore is still only two games back of an AL Wild Card spot despite being six games below .500. The Rays, meanwhile, own the best record in the American League and the third-best record in MLB, but they’ve lost five of their last seven games, including a 5-1 loss to Toronto on Thursday in which the offense managed just five hits.

Freddy Peralta’s underwhelming season has continued as the right-hander has yet to fully settle in with the Rays since his trade from the New York Mets. Peralta has allowed 12 earned runs in 14.1 innings across his first three starts with Tampa Bay, and while he allowed only one hit and two runs in his last start, he also issued three walks, hit one batter, and lasted just 4.2 innings. The Orioles will counter with left-hander Trevor Rogers, who is 8-8 on the year with a 4.15 ERA and tossed six strong innings against Tampa Bay in his last start on Aug. 16.

Rays vs. Orioles Odds

Neither team has necessarily been playing its best baseball lately, but the Orioles are listed as home favorites at Hard Rock Bet Sportsbook for Friday night’s series opener after winning three games in a four-game set against the Rays less than a week ago:

  • Moneyline: Orioles -125, Rays +115
  • Run Line: Orioles -1.5 (+175), Rays +1.5 (-185)

Orioles vs. Rays Best Bet: Pete Alonso Over 1.5 Total Bases (+115)

This was a toss-up between Pete Alonso Over 1.5 Total Bases and Alonso Over 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBI, but we decided to roll with the option offering plus-money odds for Friday night’s game. Alonso has been scorching hot in August, batting .373 with a .672 slugging percentage, 1.112 OPS, six home runs, and 13 RBIs. Plus, he’s currently riding a 12-game hitting streak.

Alonso is also enjoying a strong overall season in his first year with Baltimore, as his 23 doubles are tied for the 11th-most in MLB, his 29 home runs are tied for the seventh-most in the majors, and his 82 RBIs are tied for the sixth-most in baseball entering Friday’s action.

The Orioles’ first baseman has played particularly well against Tampa Bay this season, batting .415 with a .489 on-base percentage, 1.172 OPS, two doubles, three home runs, and 28 total bases in the 10 games he’s played against the Rays in 2026. While Alonso owns just a .250 batting average against Freddy Peralta in their all-time head-to-head matchups, he does have a double against him, and as we know, Peralta hasn’t had much success on the mound this year.

One final factor to note for this pick is that Alonso has gone over 1.5 total bases in 10 games during his current 12-game hitting streak, recording 43 total bases during that span.
