Friday night’s series opener sends the Cleveland Guardians into Tropicana Field to face the Tampa Bay Rays at 7:10 p.m. ET, the first of a three-game set that runs through Sunday.

Tampa Bay enters tonight’s matchup sitting atop the American League East with a 2-game lead over the New York Yankees, but will look to bounce back after dropping Thursday’s series finale in Toronto, 3-1. Cleveland, meanwhile, trails the Chicago White Sox by 1.5 games in the AL Central but currently holds the American League’s second Wild Card spot. The Guardians are also looking to rebound tonight after a series split against Minnesota that ended with back-to-back losses at home.

Joey Cantillo takes the mound for Cleveland carrying an 8-5 record with a 3.74 ERA and 1.42 WHIP across 106 innings pitched. He’ll face off against Tampa Bay ace Shane McClanahan, who’s been excellent at home this season with a 6-1 record, 1.88 ERA, and 0.95 WHIP in eight starts at Tropicana Field.

Tonight’s best bet for Cleveland vs. Tampa Bay was provided by Hard Rock Bet‘s Stats Hub. Check out Stats Hub for countless streaks, trends, and other valuable data points to help sharpen your MLB bets. Here’s one angle that stood out:

Shane McClanahan Under 5.5 Strikeouts (-140): Despite his dominance at home, McClanahan has struggled to pile up punchouts lately. The southpaw has gone under 5.5 strikeouts in 13 of his 18 starts this season and has fallen short of this number in each of his last five outings. He’s also had some trouble pitching deep into games, making it even tougher to reach this mark. This matchup hasn’t treated him well either. In his only career start against Cleveland back in 2022, McClanahan was tagged for seven hits, five earned runs and three walks over 4.1 innings while finishing with just four strikeouts.
