Charlotte vs. Tulane Best Bet: Charlotte +9.5 (-110)
Tulane beat Charlotte 27-0 last year, but these aren’t the same teams as they were then. Both programs have had their fair share of struggles this season, whether it’s getting blown out, turning the ball over too often, or struggling offensively.
Speaking of offense, neither side has necessarily found a rhythm, with Tulane averaging 20.3 points and 332 total yards per game and Charlotte averaging 19.1 points and 310.9 total yards per game this season. These two teams have combined for 30 total touchdowns this season, with the majority coming from their respective run games. In fact, both Tulane and Charlotte have nine rushing touchdowns this year.
Tulane may have the better overall record coming into this matchup, but the Green Wave is coming off a 23-point loss to UTSA less than a week ago. Charlotte, meanwhile, enters well-rested following its bye week after picking up its first win of the season against Temple two weeks ago.
The 49ers also may have found something with their offense in that 38-31 win over Temple. Quarterback Conner Harrell had four total touchdowns and no turnovers, running back Henry Rutledge rushed for 123 yards while averaging 7.2 yards per carry, and four pass catchers recorded 53 or more receiving yards, including Derrick Eley’s team-high 96 yards.
If Charlotte can put together that type of offensive performance Friday night, especially at home, then there’s no reason to believe the 49ers can’t make this a close game or even win it.

Tulane has had an up-and-down season after a College Football Playoff appearance last year. The Green Wave lost to Duke in Week 1 and have alternated wins and losses since, with their most recent game being a 42-19 home loss to UTSA last Saturday.
True freshman Trace Johnson made his second consecutive start at quarterback last week for Tulane, but it didn’t go as well as it did the week prior. Johnson attempted 44 passes against UTSA, completing 54.5% of them, and was intercepted twice. He also lost a fumble in a game in which Tulane turned the ball over six times.
Charlotte had just one win in 2025 and began 2026 with an 0-6 record before finally getting into the win column two weeks ago against Temple. The 49ers won that one 38-31 on the road for their first victory of the season, thanks largely to quarterback Conner Harrell’s performance, which included two passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns.
The 49ers had a bye last week but will look to pick up right where they left off and hopefully put together a winning streak to end the season on a high note.
