Leagues Cup action rolls on Wednesday night as the Seattle Sounders host Chivas Guadalajara in the final Phase One match for both clubs. Kickoff from Lumen Field in Seattle is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET.

The defending Leagues Cup champion Sounders enter their finale with three points after splitting their first two matches of the tournament. Seattle’s title defense got off to a difficult start on August 5 with a 3-0 road loss against Toluca. Jesús Gallardo put the Liga MX side ahead just three minutes into the match before Helinho and Federico Viñas added second-half goals to seal the shutout victory.

Seattle responded in convincing fashion when it returned to Lumen Field on Sunday. The Sounders defeated Querétaro 3-0, getting goals from Sebastian Gomez, Danny Musovski and Albert Rusnák.

That victory kept Seattle’s hopes alive entering the final round of Phase One, although the defending champions still face a difficult path back to the knockout stage. Teams are separated into MLS and Liga MX tables during Phase One, with only the top four from each league advancing to the quarterfinals. Seattle enters Wednesday with three points and a level goal differential, meaning a victory over Chivas would move the Sounders to six points but would still leave them dependent on results elsewhere.

The matchup also gives Seattle a chance to extend its recent success at Lumen Field in this competition. The Sounders were dominant on their home field during their championship run last summer, finishing the 2025 Leagues Cup unbeaten while outscoring opponents 16-2 overall. Seattle capped that run with a 3-0 victory over Inter Miami in the final in front of 69,314 fans at Lumen Field.

There is also some history between Wednesday’s opponents. Seattle and Guadalajara met in the quarterfinals of the 2018 Concacaf Champions Cup, with the Sounders earning a 1-0 victory at home before Guadalajara answered with a 3-0 win in Mexico to advance.
