The second and final edition of the 2026 Citrus Series begins Friday night in Miami in the Battle of Florida. The Tampa Bay Rays (36-23) travel south to take on the Miami Marlins (29-34) in the opener of a three-game set at loanDepot park.

Although the Rays remain one of the best teams in MLB by record, Tampa Bay enters Friday after being swept in three games by the Detroit Tigers and has lost eight of its last 10 games. The Marlins, meanwhile, ride into the series on a three-game winning streak after sweeping their NL East rival Washington Nationals earlier this week.

These teams last met during MLB Rivalry Weekend in May, when the Rays won the series 2-1. Drew Rasmussen is scheduled to start for Tampa Bay and picked up the win in that series after allowing two earned runs across 5.1 innings.

Ryan Gusto is expected to make his first start of the season for Miami after allowing three earned runs in two innings during his most recent relief appearance. Tyler Phillips, who allowed three earned runs across five innings in a start on May 30, is also expected to pitch Friday night in what could be a piggyback situation.

Below is a featured pick from the Stats Hub for Friday night’s series opener:

Rays vs. Marlins Best Bet: Junior Caminero Over 0.5 Runs

Junior Caminero enters Friday riding a six-game hitting streak after batting .305 with a .431 on-base percentage in May. He has also scored at least one run in four of the six games during his current streak.

Caminero’s 38 runs scored are tied for the 10th-most in MLB this season, and he recently crossed the plate three times in a single game against Detroit. The 22-year-old scored a run in two of the three games the last time these teams met.

If Miami uses both Gusto and Phillips on Friday night, Caminero could be in a favorable position to score. Both pitchers allowed three earned runs in their most recent appearances.
