The Miami Marlins head west to open a three-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday night at Chase Field. First pitch is scheduled for 9:40 p.m. ET, with Arizona trying to gain ground in a crowded National League Wild Card race.

The Diamondbacks enter the series at 79-70 and 2.5 games behind the final NL Wild Card spot, leaving little room for missed opportunities with only two weeks remaining in the regular season. Arizona has gone 6-4 over its previous 10 games and owns a 42-32 record at Chase Field.

Miami has considerably more ground to make up, but arrives in Arizona after taking two of three from the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Marlins closed that series with a 6-4 victory Sunday, improving to 74-76 and giving them some momentum before beginning their final road trip through Arizona and Colorado.

The Marlins have also had Arizona’s number this season. Miami swept all three games when the teams met in June, scoring 20 runs while holding the Diamondbacks to six across the series.

Sandy Alcantara gets the ball for Miami after reaching 200 innings for the first time since his 2022 NL Cy Young season. The right-hander is 13-10 with a 3.78 ERA and leads the majors with 21 quality starts, though he enters Monday looking to rebound after allowing 15 earned runs over his previous three outings.

Arizona will turn to Corbin Burnes for his second start since returning from Tommy John surgery. Burnes worked three scoreless innings and threw 57 pitches against Kansas City in his season debut last Tuesday. Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo indicated the former Cy Young winner could push beyond 70 pitches in his second appearance.

Best Bet for Marlins vs. Diamondbacks

Hard Rock Bet Sportsbook’s Stats Hub is loaded with trends, streaks and additional info for every game on the MLB slate. Miami’s history at Chase Field points toward backing the Fish in Monday’s series opener:

Miami Marlins +1.5 (-190): The Marlins have covered the run line in eight consecutive games at Chase Field, and their success against Arizona hasn’t been limited to trips out west.

Miami has had the Diamondbacks’ number this season, sweeping all three meetings between the teams in June, and Monday’s pitching matchup gives them another opportunity to keep the game within reach.

Alcantara and Burnes is the ultimate pitching matchup to open the series. Even with Burnes still working his way back to a full workload, both starters are capable of keeping opposing offenses from taking control early, creating the type of game where a 1.5-run cushion could prove significant late.

With Miami carrying an eight-game run-line covering streak at Chase Field, already enjoying success against Arizona this season and two accomplished starters on the mound, Marlins +1.5 (-190) is our best bet for Monday night.
