Kennesaw State visits Middle Tennessee on Wednesday night for a Conference USA matchup at Johnny “Red” Floyd Stadium in Murfreesboro. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network.

The Blue Raiders enter at 4-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play, having won each of their last two games. Kennesaw State, meanwhile, sits at 1-6 and 0-3 in CUSA after dropping six straight.

Middle Tennessee pulled off one of the biggest upsets of last week’s slate, defeating FIU 26-23 on the road as a double-digit underdog. The Blue Raiders put up 448 yards of total offense, with running back Terrence Brown Jr. posting a career-high 158 rushing yards on 18 carries.

Kennesaw State had a much tougher outing against Liberty last Thursday, falling 34-6 at home. The Owls were limited to 62 rushing yards and failed to reach the end zone against the Flames.

The programs have met twice since Kennesaw State joined Conference USA, with Middle Tennessee winning 14-5 in 2024 and the Owls answering with a 24-16 victory last season. The home team won both matchups.

Kennesaw State vs. Middle Tennessee Prediction

Kennesaw State +1.5 (-110): I’m taking the points with Kennesaw State on Wednesday night, backing the Owls to keep this game close and potentially pull off the outright upset.

The Owls have been much more competitive than their record suggests. Before last week’s blowout against the conference leaders, Kennesaw State had suffered three losses by three points or fewer, including a 27-26 defeat to Jacksonville State and a 24-21 loss at Missouri State.

The Blue Raiders have covered in five of their first seven games, but they’ve also played their share of close contests. Both of their most recent victories were decided by just three points, making it difficult to justify much separation between these teams based solely on their records.

There’s also a potential letdown factor for Middle Tennessee following an emotional road victory in a game few expected the Blue Raiders to win. Kennesaw State, on the other hand, has an opportunity to reset after facing the league’s top team.

With such a small number separating these teams, I’ll take the underdog on Wednesday night.
