Welcome in, everybody, to another episode of Leading Off.
The Welsh and I have a pair of Hard Rock Best Bets for Friday night. Let’s get into it.
Joe Pisapia’s Hard Rock Bet of the Day: Jose Ramirez Over 1.5 Total Bases (+144)
I’m going with Jose Ramirez over 1.5 total bases.
Ramirez is absolutely red hot right now, and this is a matchup he’s dominated throughout his career. He’s hitting .348 against Chris Bassitt and has taken him deep multiple times, including three home runs over their last five meetings.
Bassitt has also had his fair share of struggles this season, which only adds to the appeal here.
When you combine Ramirez’s current form with his track record against this pitcher, it’s a great spot – especially at plus money.
Let’s back the hot bat and take Jose Ramírez to keep it rolling. Over 1.5 total bases at +144.
Chris Welsh’s Hard Rock Bet of the Day: Chandler Simpson to Record a Stolen Base
I’m keeping things in the Pittsburgh game, but going a different route: Chandler Simpson to record a stolen base.
We haven’t hit a lot of these this season, but this is a spot I really like. Bubba Chandler is on the mound, and he’s a guy who can run into some control issues. Walks and hits create opportunities, and Simpson is exactly the type of player who can take advantage.
If Simpson gets on base – and I think he will – he’s going to be aggressive. That’s his game.
The number isn’t massive compared to some others, but getting close to 2-1 odds on a player with this kind of speed is still worth it.
Give me Chandler Simpson to swipe a bag as my Hard Rock Bet of the Day.
