Brentford vs. Spurs

Brentford and Tottenham begin their 2026-27 Premier League campaigns Saturday afternoon at Gtech Community Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. ET, and while both clubs start with a clean slate, they arrive at opening weekend after very different 2025-26 seasons.

Brentford spent much of last year in the European conversation and remained there until the final day. Keith Andrews‘ first season in charge ended with a ninth-place finish, matching the club’s best in the Premier League, with only goal difference keeping Brentford out of Europe. Igor Thiago played a major role in that push, scoring 22 league goals during a breakout campaign at the top of the attack.

Rather than make wholesale changes to a team that came so close, Brentford spent the summer adding to it. Midfielder Mamadou Sangaré arrived from Lens for a club-record fee, while Jaidon Anthony, Callum Wilson and Jannik Schuster were also brought in. Sangaré is expected to make his Premier League debut Saturday.

Tottenham’s offseason called for a much more dramatic response.

Spurs finished 17th for the second consecutive year in 2025-26, surviving relegation by just two points after spending much of the season near the bottom of the table. Roberto De Zerbi helped steady things after taking over late in the campaign, with Tottenham collecting 11 points from its final seven matches to preserve its Premier League status. He now gets a full season – and a significantly different squad – to try to get the club back on its feet.

Tottenham has spent aggressively to make that happen. Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes headline a rebuilt midfield, while Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson give De Zerbi several new options at the back. Spurs also went unbeaten during preseason, offering some early encouragement before the results begin to count.

Stats Hub Best Bet: Both Teams to Score (-200)

Looking for another angle for Saturday’s matchup? Check out Hard Rock Bet’s Stats Hub for team and player trends, recent results and other data to consider before placing your bets. One trend that jumps out for the opener points toward Both Teams to Score (-200).

Both sides have found the net in each of Tottenham’s last seven Premier League matches at night.

There’s reason to believe each attack can contribute here, too. Brentford brings back Thiago after his 22-goal season and just wrapped up preseason play by scoring seven times against Eintracht Frankfurt. Tottenham has spent the summer reshaping the squad for De Zerbi and should be able to build on their momentum from late last season that has also carried over into an unbeaten preseason.

The start of a new camapign always brings some unknowns, particularly with Tottenham incorporating so many new pieces, but there should be enough talent on the field to give both clubs opportunities.

We’ll ride the Stats Hub trend and take Both Teams to Score (-200) as our best bet for this afternoon’s match.
