Giannis Antetokounmpo makes his Miami Heat debut Wednesday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Kaseya Center in Florida, with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m. ET to open both teams’ seasons.
The Heat acquired two-time MVP Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis from Milwaukee in an offseason trade in exchange for four players, including Tyler Herro, and five draft picks. That wasn’t the only major move Miami made, as the Heat also signed five-time All-Star and four-time NBA champion Klay Thompson while retaining Andrew Wiggins on a three-year contract extension.
Miami isn’t the only team that made franchise-changing additions this past offseason. The Timberwolves also revamped their roster by signing Jonathan Kuminga to a two-year deal and, more notably, acquiring LaMelo Ball from Charlotte in a four-team trade to pair with superstar Anthony Edwards.
