Monday, October 26, marks the 33rd sports equinox in history, with the NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL all in action on the same day. This year’s schedule also includes the WNBA Finals, giving fans five professional sports leagues to follow throughout the night.
What is a sports equinox?
A sports equinox occurs when all four major North American professional sports leagues play games on the same day. The first-ever sports equinox occurred on October 17, 1971, and typically falls in October, when MLB’s postseason overlaps with the NFL regular season and the opening weeks of the NBA and NHL seasons.
Tonight’s action includes Game 3 of the World Series between the Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays, along with an NFC East matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football. Nine NBA games and three NHL contests are also scheduled, while the Atlanta Dream and Golden State Valkyries meet in Game 5 of the WNBA Finals.
With games taking place across all five leagues, we’ve put together a four-leg equinox parlay at Hard Rock Bet Sportsbook:
Tampa Bay Rays ML (-120)
The Rays are in serious trouble if they don’t win Game 3 of the World Series on Monday night. Facing The Miz in Game 1 was always going to be a challenge, but blowing a 4-0 lead in Game 2 was detrimental, leaving Tampa Bay trailing 2-0 in the series heading back to Tropicana Field.
Fortunately for the Rays, Freddy Peralta will be on the mound.
Peralta has been Tampa Bay’s ace throughout its postseason run, going 2-0 with a 1.08 ERA and 12 strikeouts across four appearances in October. He’ll now face the franchise where he spent the first eight seasons of his MLB career, earning two All-Star selections and compiling a 70-42 record with the Milwaukee Brewers.
The right-hander has faced his former team just once, back in July while pitching for the New York Mets. That outing didn’t go according to plan, as Peralta surrendered seven earned runs on eight hits in an 8-3 loss to Milwaukee.
But Peralta has looked like a completely different pitcher since joining Tampa Bay, turning things around late in the regular season and carrying that success into October. Peralta is 7-1 with a 1.58 ERA and 45 strikeouts over his last 10 starts, including the postseason.
With their season potentially slipping away, the Rays have the right arm on the mound to get back into the series.
Philadelphia Eagles +4.5 (-110)
The Eagles are desperate for a win after suffering their fourth consecutive loss last week, dropping to 2-4 on the season. Injuries have taken a significant toll on Philadelphia, particularly along the offensive line and at quarterback, where Jalen Hurts remains sidelined.
Despite those setbacks, the Eagles have remained competitive throughout their losing streak. They jumped out to an early lead against the Rams before letting that game slip away, hung tough with Jacksonville overseas as 7.5-point underdogs, and battled Carolina through three quarters last week at Lincoln Financial Field as 3.5-point underdogs in Tanner McKee’s first start of the season.
Now Philadelphia returns home as an even bigger underdog against a Dallas Cowboys team that has been equally disappointing this season, also sitting at 2-4.
The Eagles’ injury situation isn’t getting any better, with wide receivers DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks both ruled out for Monday night. However, Philadelphia could receive a much-needed boost with the return of Saquon Barkley, who has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury but practiced in full on Saturday.
Surprisingly, this hasn’t been a favorable spot for Philadelphia under Nick Sirianni. Since taking over in 2021, the Eagles are just 1-6 against the spread as home underdogs. However, Dallas has struggled even more in the opposite role, going just 1-7 ATS as a road favorite since the start of the 2024 season.
Neither team has inspired much confidence this season, but Philadelphia has continued to compete despite its mounting injuries. With a divisional rival coming to town and Barkley returning, taking the Eagles with the points is the play on Monday night.
Utah Jazz ML (-115)
The Grizzlies have been the NBA’s biggest surprise through the opening week of the 2026-27 season, jumping out to a 3-0 start behind an unlikely hero in Ty Jerome.
Jerome has been nothing short of spectacular in his first three games, averaging an NBA-leading 34.7 points to go along with 5.7 assists and 4.3 rebounds while shooting 56.3% from the field. The veteran guard erupted for 45 points in Memphis’ season-opening victory over Utah and has followed that performance with 28 and 31 points in his last two outings.
The Grizzlies opened their season with a 123-103 home victory over the Jazz before pulling off a thrilling last-minute comeback against Golden State on Friday night. They kept their perfect record intact Sunday with a 123-112 road win over Sacramento, improving to 3-0 against the spread in the process.
Utah, meanwhile, enters Monday’s rematch at 1-2 following losses to Memphis and the Lakers, with a one-point victory over New Orleans sandwiched between them. The Jazz are coming off a disappointing defensive performance Sunday night, surrendering 132 points at home to Los Angeles while failing to cover as 6.5-point underdogs.
Now these two teams meet for the second time in less than a week, with Memphis playing its second road game in as many nights following Sunday’s victory in Sacramento.
There’s no denying how impressive the Grizzlies have looked through three games, particularly with Jerome playing at an MVP-caliber level. But Memphis is being asked to maintain that momentum on the second night of a road back-to-back against a Utah team that has already seen it firsthand.
Take the Jazz to get back in the win column at home and put an end to Memphis’ undefeated start.
New York Rangers ML (-130)
The Rangers have also gotten off to an impressive start this season, thanks in large part to their success at Madison Square Garden, where they’ve won all six of their games.
New York enters Monday’s matchup against the Los Angeles Kings looking to bounce back from consecutive road losses to Toronto and Ottawa. The Rangers surrendered five goals in Thursday’s 5-4 defeat to the Maple Leafs before falling 7-4 to the Senators on Saturday, continuing what has been a difficult start away from home.
Fortunately, it’s been an entirely different story at Madison Square Garden.
The Rangers are a perfect 6-0-0 on home ice, outscoring their opponents 29-10 while allowing just 1.67 goals per game. It’s their longest home winning streak to open a season since 1990-91, when they won their first eight games at the Garden.
This early stretch has been particularly encouraging considering New York finished last in the Eastern Conference a season ago and didn’t earn its sixth home victory until January 26.
The Kings, meanwhile, have struggled to generate consistent offense, scoring just one goal in five of their first nine games. That could spell trouble against a Rangers team that has been considerably better defensively on home ice.
Back in a building where they haven’t lost this season, look for the Rangers to keep their perfect home record intact.
