The NBA Finals are here. The New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs square off for the first time in the Finals since 1999, and both teams have plenty on the line. New York hasn’t won a championship since 1973, and an entire generation of Knicks fans has never seen their team hoist the Larry O’Brien Trophy. San Antonio, on the other hand, is looking to build something new around 22-year-old phenom Victor Wembanyama, who was named Defensive Player of the Year and Western Conference Finals MVP after leading the Spurs past Oklahoma City in seven games.

The Knicks cruised through the Eastern Conference, beating the Hawks in six games in the first round before sweeping both the 76ers and Cavaliers to reach the Finals. Jalen Brunson has been the engine, and with the depth around him in Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby, Josh Hart, and Karl-Anthony Towns, this group has been nearly impossible to slow down. The main question heading into the Finals is whether a team that hasn’t been pushed to the limit yet is ready for one that has.

Below is a full breakdown of the odds, betting splits, and our best bet for Wednesday night’s opener.

Knicks vs. Spurs Game 1 Odds

Hard Rock Bet Sportsbook has the Spurs listed as 4.5-point home favorites for Game 1 of the NBA Finals:

  • Point Spread: Knicks +4.5 (-105), Spurs -4.5 (-115)
  • Moneyline: Knicks (+155), Spurs (-185)
  • Total: Over 218.5 (-110), Under 218.5 (-110)

NBA Finals Series Odds

Looking at the bigger picture, Hard Rock Bet has the Spurs favored to win the series at -190, with the Knicks listed at +160. San Antonio’s home-court advantage and Wembanyama’s dominance are clearly driving the price, but New York’s experience, depth and rest advantage after sweeping their way through the East could make this closer than the odds suggest.

Karl-Anthony Towns Over 16.5 Points: Towns has now scored 19 or more points in eight consecutive road games at the Frost Bank Center. This is clearly one of his favorite places to play, averaging 23.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 3 assists across 15 career road games against the Spurs. As a member of the Timberwolves, he famously dropped 60 points in this building, the second-highest scoring output of his career. Since joining the Knicks, he’s made two trips to San Antonio: a 20-point performance on New Year’s Eve 2025 and a 32-point explosion last March. He’s also cleared this number in 9 of 14 games this postseason, which is notable considering how many lopsided blowouts New York has been involved in.

Game 1 Betting Splits

Here’s how players at Hard Rock Bet are split on Game 1 of the NBA Finals:

  • Moneyline: The Knicks are drawing 68.59% of all tickets but just 49.30% of the handle.
  • Spread: Spurs -4.5 is attracting 60.84% of bets and a commanding 81.98% of the handle.
  • Total: Over 218.5 is the popular side, drawing 66.35% of tickets and 81.05% of the handle.

NBA Finals MVP Odds

Hard Rock Bet has posted opening odds for the 2026 NBA Finals MVP award, and it’s no surprise who sits at the top. Victor Wembanyama is the heavy favorite at -170 after his dominant Western Conference Finals performance, where he averaged 27.3 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks per game en route to WCF MVP honors. Jalen Brunson is the next closest at +190, reflecting his status as the engine behind New York’s postseason run.
