I went out on a limb and took the 3-way moneyline draw for Argentina vs Egypt… and it looked pretty good, until it didn’t. But I think our process was right and I’m willing to take another stab at it.
Both of these teams have been busy and the minutes are starting to pile up. For Argentina, this is back-t0-back games on 3 days rest, the first of which went to extra time and the second required a heroic comeback. Switzerland are also on 3 days rest, having needed extra time and penalties to get by Colombia. It’s not hard to envision a scenario where this one slows down, the legs feel heavy, and we end up tied after 90 minutes.
I also think people are discounting how good this Switzerland team are. They’re experienced, they took England to penalties at Euro 2024, and they’ve conceded just 3 goals so far in the entire tournament.
Plus, per Stats Hub, three of Switzerland’s last four World Cup matches where they entered as a betting underdog against a team from a different region have ended in a draw. I like taking a shot at the tie at +260.

I have concerns that he’s going to start slowing down, but ultimately I don’t think it really matters how stingy the Swiss defense have been, or how tired he is. There’s never been a player more capable of creating magic on the soccer field and we’re getting him at even money to score. Sign me up.
