LeBron James makes his home debut for the Philadelphia 76ers (1-0) Thursday night at the Xfinity Mobile Arena against a franchise he’s very familiar with in the Cleveland Cavaliers. After deciding not to return to the Los Angeles Lakers, James narrowed his free agency decision to a handful of teams as he prepared for his 24th NBA season, with both Philadelphia and Cleveland near the top of the list. Ultimately, he chose the Sixers over a second reunion with the Cavaliers.
The Sixers played on opening night and spoiled New York’s banner night at Madison Square Garden, picking up a 106-100 road win against the defending champions. It was the first look at a revamped Philadelphia squad that made major offseason moves, including signing LeBron, trading for five-time All-Star Jaylen Brown from Boston, and retooling its depth.
It was a bit of a slow start for the Sixers, as one might expect with so many new players sharing the court for the first time in a regular season game. However, Philadelphia overcame a 58-54 halftime deficit by outscoring New York 29-18 in the third quarter before holding off a fourth-quarter comeback attempt to secure the win.
Thursday night’s game marks the Cavaliers’ 2026-27 season opener, and it comes on the road in what should be an electric environment in South Philly. Although Cleveland missed out on the LeBron sweepstakes, the Cavaliers still have a talented team that finished 52-30 last season and earned the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference.
The Cavaliers put together an impressive playoff run last year with series victories over No. 5-seeded Houston and No. 1-seeded Detroit. However, after both series went seven games, Cleveland’s luck ran out in the Eastern Conference Finals, where it was swept by New York.
Our Cavaliers vs. 76ers best player prop bets, predictions, and odds are featured below ahead of LeBron’s highly anticipated home debut.

Best Player Prop Bets and Predictions for Cavaliers vs. 76ers
Both teams are expected to contend in the Eastern Conference this season, with aspirations of competing for an NBA championship. There are plenty of storylines surrounding Thursday night’s matchup, along with a wide range of basketball betting markets available at Hard Rock Bet Sportsbook. Using insights and trends from the Stats Hub, we picked out two of the best player prop bets for Cavaliers vs. 76ers in our predictions below:
LeBron James Over 15.5 Points (-120)
The 76ers don’t need a soon-to-be 42-year-old LeBron James to be the focal point of their offense with all the other elite talent on the roster. If James can score 14 points, grab nine rebounds, dish out seven assists, and play solid defense like he did Tuesday night against New York while Philadelphia still picks up the win, the Sixers will likely win plenty of games this season.
That’s not to say LeBron can’t still score 20 or 30-plus points on any given night because he certainly can. However, with the talent on this Sixers team, he can afford to take a backseat offensively and still make a significant impact. He also didn’t shoot particularly well against New York, which is unlikely to be the case every game.
With that said, Thursday night could be a game where LeBron puts up more points. It’s his home debut in front of the Philadelphia crowd against one of his former teams, so there’s little doubt he’ll be fired up for the occasion.
James scored 14 points on a poor shooting night against New York, making 16 points a reasonable target Thursday night against Cleveland. The Stats Hub also notes that LeBron is riding an impressive 34-game streak of scoring 16 or more points at the Xfinity Mobile Arena.
- LeBron James Over 15.5 Points (-120)
James Harden Over 18.5 Points (-125)
James Harden is one of the best scorers the NBA has ever seen, and while his career may be winding down, the three-time scoring champion remains a dangerous offensive threat. Harden is no longer averaging 30 or more points per game, but he has still averaged at least 21 points in five of his last six seasons, including 23.6 in 70 games between the Los Angeles Clippers and Cavaliers last year.
With Thursday night marking Cleveland’s season opener in what should be an electric environment, Harden and the Cavaliers could feed off that energy, even as the visiting team. Harden also has history with Philadelphia, having joined the Sixers in a trade from Brooklyn during the 2021-22 season before spending the entire 2022-23 campaign with the team. That alone could provide some extra motivation against his former squad.
The Stats Hub notes that Harden has scored 26 or more points in four consecutive games as an underdog against the 76ers. He won’t need to reach 26 points Thursday night, though, as 19 or more will be enough for this pick to cash.
- James Harden Over 18.5 Points (-125)
