The San Diego Padres bring MLB’s longest active winning streak into Chavez Ravine on Tuesday night as they open a three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. First pitch is scheduled for 10:10 p.m. ET on TBS.
San Diego has won five consecutive games and 13 of its last 14, climbing to 87-69 with six games remaining in the regular season. The Padres are currently tied with Chicago for the top National League Wild Card spot, one game ahead of Philadelphia and five games clear of Arizona. A win Tuesday combined with an Arizona loss would officially send San Diego to the postseason.
Los Angeles is rolling into the series as well. The Dodgers swept San Francisco over the weekend to extend their winning streak to four games and improve to 96-60. They have already secured their fifth straight NL West title, but still have something to play for, sitting two games behind the Milwaukee Brewers for the National League’s No. 1 seed.
The Dodgers will also be without Shohei Ohtani for the series opener. Ohtani remains on the injured list while dealing with left knee and right biceps issues, but he is expected to be activated when eligible on Wednesday.
Michael King gets the ball for San Diego with a 12-9 record, 3.03 ERA and 154 strikeouts on the season. The right-hander is 4-0 with a 1.41 ERA across his last five starts and has already made three starts against the Dodgers this season. His best came May 18, when King struck out nine across seven scoreless innings in a 1-0 Padres victory at home.

King now returns to Chavez Ravine with a 4-0 record and 1.41 ERA over his last five starts, while San Diego has climbed into a tie for the top Wild Card position during its late-season surge.
Los Angeles has won four straight as well, but its lineup remains without Shohei Ohtani, who is on the injured list and expected to return on Wednesday.
