The Kansas Jayhawks (1-0, 0-0 Big 12) welcome the No. 23 Missouri Tigers (1-0, 0-0 SEC) to town for a Friday night Week 2 college football matchup at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium. Both teams are coming off dominant wins in their season openers, albeit against lesser competition.
Kansas picked up a 51-6 win over Long Island University last Friday in a game in which it outplayed its opponent in almost every aspect. The Jayhawks totaled 613 yards of offense and notably gained 29 first downs while going 8-for-13 on third down and 2-for-3 on fourth down.
After winning the starting job ahead of the season, Kansas quarterback Isaiah Marshall had a strong showing in Week 1, throwing for 246 yards and two touchdowns while also averaging seven yards per carry on seven attempts. Transfer wide receiver Nik McMillan caught six passes for 130 yards and a touchdown, while transfer running back Yasin Willis led the team with 72 rushing yards and found the end zone twice as part of a Kansas run game that combined for 277 yards and five touchdowns in the win.
Missouri began its season with a 54-14 victory against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, totaling 562 yards of offense while holding the Golden Lions to just 13 first downs and 198 total yards. Transfer quarterback Austin Simmons had a nice debut for the Tigers, completing 17 of 19 passes for 252 yards and four touchdowns, with sophomore wide receiver Donovan Olugbode recording 107 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Missouri will still be without All-American running back Ahmad Hardy in Week 2 as he remains sidelined while recovering from an offseason gunshot wound, but the Tigers still rushed for 205 yards and three touchdowns in their opener, with eight different players recording a rushing attempt.
Friday night’s game will be a big test for Kansas to see if it can compete against ranked opponents, while Missouri will look to carry its momentum and continue its climb up the AP Poll. Continue below for Missouri vs. Kansas predictions, picks, and odds for Friday night’s Border War.

Kansas vs. Missouri Best Bet: Over 51.5 Points (-110)
Both teams scored over 50 points with impressive offensive performances in their Week 1 wins, and both teams also held their opponents under 200 total yards of offense. Missouri may be the ranked team in this matchup, but Kansas has the tools to pull off the upset in front of its home fans.
Friday night is shaping up to be a competitive game that could be decided by which team makes fewer mistakes, but it’s hard to judge whether it will be a high-scoring or low-scoring affair based on their Week 1 performances on both sides of the ball, especially when taking the level of competition they faced into consideration.
With that said, we’re backing the offenses and looking at the Over.
