The NFL heads Down Under for its first-ever regular-season game in Australia on Thursday night as the Los Angeles Rams take on their NFC West rivals, the San Francisco 49ers, in a historic Week 1 matchup. The 49ers and Rams both figure to be among the NFC’s best during the 2026-27 season, with not only playoff aspirations but also the ultimate goal of reaching the Super Bowl in February at SoFi Stadium.
San Francisco is getting key players back Thursday night, with edge rusher Nick Bosa set to suit up for the first time since suffering a torn ACL in Week 3 against Arizona last season. Tight end George Kittle is also expected to play for the first time since suffering a torn Achilles tendon during the 49ers’ Wild Card win over Philadelphia in last year’s playoffs.
Thursday night will also be the first chance to see the Rams in action, a team that many believe could be a superteam this season. Los Angeles acquired reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett and All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie to add to an already loaded roster that includes reigning NFL MVP Matthew Stafford. Nacua led the NFL with 129 receptions, 80 first downs, and 107.2 receiving yards per game in 2025. While he wasn’t the league leader in touchdown receptions, his 10 receiving touchdowns were tied for the third most.
Nacua is also a factor on jet sweeps and end-arounds due to his strength and toughness, giving him additional opportunities to find the end zone beyond just catching touchdowns. It also helps that he has a quarterback in Matthew Stafford who airs it out with the best of them. Stafford’s 46 touchdown passes last season led the NFL and were 12 more than the next-highest total.
The Stats Hub notes that Nacua has scored a touchdown in four consecutive games against NFC West opponents, and he also found the end zone in each of the Rams’ two games against the 49ers last season.

Mike Evans Over 49.5 Receiving Yards (-115)
Mike Evans has been one of the best wide receivers of his generation and recorded at least 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first 11 NFL seasons before the streak was snapped in 2025, when he played in only eight games due to injury. Things will look a bit different Thursday night, as it will be the first time Evans suits up in a uniform other than Tampa Bay’s after signing a three-year deal with the 49ers this past offseason.
Evans will more than likely be quarterback Brock Purdy’s No. 1 option in a wide receiver corps that also features veterans Deebo Samuel and Demarcus Robinson, along with rookie De’Zhaun Stribling. His receiving line is set at 49.5 yards against a tough Rams defense, but Evans has notably recorded 40 or more receiving yards in each of his eight previous appearances against Los Angeles, according to the Stats Hub.

Brock Purdy Over 18.5 Rushing Yards (-120)
Brock Purdy isn’t necessarily known as a dual-threat quarterback like some others around the league, but he can still beat defenses with his legs from time to time. From Weeks 15 through 18 a season ago, Purdy rushed for 104 yards, going over 18.5 rushing yards in three of those four games. He also went over that mark in each of the 49ers’ two playoff games against tough Philadelphia and Seattle defenses.
While his rushing line is set at 18.5 yards for Thursday night, the Stats Hub notes that Purdy has recorded 21 or more rushing yards in each of the 49ers’ last four games, further proving that he can get things done on the ground.
