The Indiana Fever host the Dallas Wings on Friday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in a matchup featuring three of the WNBA‘s top seven scorers. Indiana enters at 21-12 and has won seven of its last nine games, while Dallas sits at 20-14 after snapping a three-game losing streak with Wednesday’s 94-88 victory over Toronto.
Indiana’s offense has been particularly difficult to slow down lately. The Fever have topped 100 points in seven of their last nine games and are coming off a 106-92 win over the New York Liberty in which they shot 16-25 from 3-point range. Kelsey Mitchell scored 28 points in the win and has led Indiana in scoring in four consecutive games, while Caitlin Clark finished with 22 points and 11 assists.
Dallas arrives in Indianapolis with a much thinner rotation. Azzi Fudd will miss her fourth straight game with a right knee injury, while Jessica Shepard and Aziaha James have also been ruled out. The Wings still have plenty of scoring ability behind Paige Bueckers and Arike Ogunbowale. Bueckers scored all 22 of her points after halftime against Toronto on Wednesday and added eight assists and three steals, while Ogunbowale contributed 21 points.
Friday will be the second of three meetings between the teams this season. Dallas took the opener 107-104 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on May 9, when Ogunbowale scored 22 points and Bueckers added 20. Mitchell led Indiana with 30 points, Aliyah Boston finished with 23 and Clark scored 20. The rematch comes with both teams firmly in the playoff picture and separated by just 1.5 games in the standings entering Friday night.
