Game 3 of a four-game series between AL East rivals, the Toronto Blue Jays (21-27) and New York Yankees (30-19), takes place Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium. The Yankees have won the first two games of the series by one run each and will look to secure the series victory before Thursday night’s finale.

The headline entering Wednesday night is the starting pitching matchup. Two of the most hyped young pitchers in baseball, Trey Yesavage of the Blue Jays and Cam Schlittler of the Yankees, are set to take the mound for their respective teams.

The Blue Jays have yet to find their rhythm after falling one win short of a World Series championship in 2025, entering Wednesday six games below .500 and losers of 10 of their last 15 games. The Yankees, meanwhile, remain one of the top teams in MLB despite going just 4-7 over their last 11 games. However, New York’s back-to-back wins over Toronto could be a sign the club is getting back on track.

Here are two featured picks for Wednesday night’s matchup at Yankee Stadium:

Blue Jay vs. Yankees Best Bet: Trey Yesavage Over 5.5 Strikeouts

Trey Yesavage has made only four MLB starts so far in 2026, but the young right-hander has gone over 5.5 strikeouts in three of those outings. He also displayed elite strikeout ability last season, recording 55 strikeouts across 41.2 innings between the regular season and playoffs.

Yesavage faces a dangerous Yankees lineup Wednesday night, but New York also strikes out at a high rate as a team. The Yankees enter Wednesday with 436 strikeouts, the sixth-most in MLB.

Blue Jays vs. Yankees Best Bet: Jazz Chisholm Jr. Over 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBI

Jazz Chisholm Jr. appears to be heating up offensively. The Yankees second baseman is batting .455 over his last six games, a stretch that included four consecutive multi-hit performances before going hitless Tuesday night.

Chisholm also enters Wednesday having scored a run in five straight games while totaling four RBIs during that span. Offensive production may not come easy against Yesavage, but Chisholm’s plus-money Hits+Runs+RBI line remains intriguing given his recent form.

MLB’s Young Stars: Yesavage vs. Schlittler

Trey Yesavage and Cam Schlittler are two of the brightest young starting pitchers in baseball. Both debuted in 2025 and immediately made an impact.

Yesavage debuted for Toronto last September shortly after turning 22 years old. He tossed five innings of one-run baseball with nine strikeouts in his MLB debut against Tampa Bay, though he made just three regular-season starts.

More impressively, the young right-hander made six postseason starts during Toronto’s playoff run, including a 12-strikeout performance across seven strong innings in Game 5 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Yesavage has carried that momentum into 2026, posting a 1.40 ERA with 21 strikeouts through his first four starts.

Schlittler also impressed during his first taste of MLB action in 2025, though with a larger sample size than Yesavage. The Yankees right-hander posted a 2.96 ERA with 84 strikeouts across 14 regular-season starts before elevating his profile in the postseason.

Facing elimination in Game 3 of the Wild Card Series against Boston, the Yankees turned to Schlittler for his first playoff start. The 6-foot-6 right-hander responded with eight shutout innings and 12 strikeouts in a dominant win. He later tossed 6.1 strong innings against Toronto in the ALDS.

Schlittler has been dominant to begin the 2026 season. The 25-year-old enters Wednesday tied for the MLB lead among starters in wins and winning percentage, while also leading the American League with a 1.35 ERA and 0.783 WHIP through his first 10 starts.
