Florida may be one state, but when it comes to Super Bowl betting, it’s anything but united.
A county-by-county look at betting support across the Sunshine State reveals a few eyebrow-raising surprises—where you’d least expect them.
South Florida Loves the… Patriots?
Shockingly, a significant portion of South Florida, including Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach County have all seen a majority of Super Bowl futures come in on the New England Patriots to win it all.
The Dolphins long-standing divisional rivalry with the Patriots in the AFC East doesn’t seem to be an obstacle for bettors. Whether its an emotional hedge in case the worst happens, or a legitimate value bet – the Pats are a popular team in the Miami area right now.
Jacksonville Pivots to the Seahawks
Duval County is just two weeks removed from seeing their Jaguars suffer a nail-biting Wild Card loss to the Buffalo Bills. With the hometown team absent from Championship Weekend – and beyond – Jacksonville bettors are looking west for value. Whether it’s faith in Seattle’s postseason pedigree or skepticism toward the remaining AFC field, Duval’s preference among the NFL’s final four is unmistakable.
The Seattle support trends through the central part of the state as well, including Alachua County and the Gainesville area.
Little Love for the Underdogs
Elsewhere, the two underdogs, the LA Rams and Denver Broncos make selective appearances, often isolated to single counties or small clusters. Overall, the long-term betting trends in Florida support one of this weekend’s favorites hoisting the Lombardi Trophy on February 8.
