When Kylian Mbappé finally arrived at Real Madrid, it felt less like a transfer and more like destiny fulfilled. After years of rumors, rejected bids, dramatic renewals, and endless speculation, the French superstar landed at the Bernabéu carrying the expectations of an era.
But soccer moves fast – especially at the top of the game. And while the most likely outcome is still Mbappé remaining in Madrid beyond the summer of 2026, the possibility of a surprise move is compelling enough for Hard Rock Bet Sportsbook to create one of the most fascinating futures markets in football.

Why Could Mbappé Leave Madrid?
At first glance, the idea sounds absurd. Real Madrid is the glamour club of world football and it’s where Mbappé wanted to be. Financially, competitively, and commercially, there are few bigger stages in the world.
However, despite scoring 41 goals in 41 appearances, it’s been a deeply disappointing season for both Kylian Mbappé and Real Madrid, with the club set to finish without a major trophy for a second straight year. More surprisingly, frustration around the French superstar appears to be growing – not just among supporters, but within the club itself.
Reports emerging from Madrid in recent weeks have painted a picture of a tense and fractured dressing room, with the drama beginning to resemble something closer to a soap opera than a football team. Fan unrest has also intensified with a “Kylian Mbappé Out” petition launched by disgruntled Madridistas reportedly surpassing 70 million signatures – an astonishing figure that underlines just how quickly the mood around the Bernabéu can shift.
If they get their wish… where might he go next?
If Mbappé Leaves Madrid, Where Would He Go?
If Mbappé were to leave Madrid this summer, the list of realistic destinations would be incredibly short. Only a handful of clubs in world football could afford his wages, pay a massive transfer fee, and offer him the chance to compete for the sport’s biggest trophies.
Unsurprisingly, the leading contenders all come from the Premier League. Let’s break down the favorites.
Arsenal +400 to Land Kylian Mbappé
Arsenal sitting as the market favorite to sign Mbappé (outside Madrid) is fascinating – and not completely crazy.
Mikel Arteta has assembled a deep squad in North London that’s capable of going head-to-head with any team in the world, but there’s a need for attacking reinforcement – especially on Mbappé’s preferred left side. Arsenal made the Champions League semifinal last season, and will face PSG in the 25/26 Final later this month… a trophy Mbappé is still chasing.
Then there’s the French connection. Arsenal’s all-time leading goalscorer is French legend Thierry Henry, a player Mbappé has long described as both an idol and mentor. Mbappé also shares a friendship with Arsenal defender William Saliba; the two grew up together in France and attended the same primary school.
Finally, Arsenal are on the cusp of becoming the richest club in England due to the revenue that accompanies both their league table position and reaching the Champions League Final.
Liverpool +500 to Get Mbappé
Liverpool may quietly make more sense than people realize.
Liverpool has become one of the few clubs capable of matching Madrid in match day atmosphere, global relevance, and expectation. The transition away from the Salah era could also align perfectly with Mbappé’s timeline. Commercially, tactically, and stylistically, there’s a natural fit to an explosive forward leading Liverpool’s attack.
The club spent big on attack last summer, adding Hugo Ekitké (€95M), Florian Wirtz (€125M), and Alexander Isak (€145M), so they may look to strengthen elsewhere in the summer… but Mbappé would represent the ultimate statement signing.
Manchester City +500 to Sign Mbappé
If Mbappé ever prioritizes pure soccer dominance above all else, Manchester City would become terrifyingly logical. This would be Kevin Durant joining the 73-win Warriors.
Pairing Mbappé with Erling Haaland and City’s possession machine could create staggering numbers. City also possesses the financial muscle to make any deal possible.
What’s more, Pep Guardiola’s stature in the game commands a level of respect few managers can match – the kind that can keep even the biggest superstar egos in check.
Manchester United odds of signing Mbappé: +700
This is the classic “sleeping giant” wager. United remains one of the world’s biggest clubs commercially despite years of instability on the field. They’re back in the Champions League for 2026/2027, and if the club ever truly returns to elite contention, a transformational superstar signing would likely be central to that revival.
Mbappé at Old Trafford would instantly become one of the biggest stories in sports. The issue, of course, is whether United can re-establish itself competitively enough to attract a player of his stature.
Pricing the Wildcards
A Saudi move (+1500) cannot be dismissed entirely given the scale of money involved. Even players once considered “unbuyable” are now part of those conversations.
PSG (+1500) feels emotionally unlikely after the dramatic nature of his departure, but football has a short memory when enough money and ambition collide. Paris has faired pretty well since he left, though, with a chance to win back-to-back Champions League titles later this month.
Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and all Italian clubs all carry intrigue, though each comes with either financial or political complications.
And then there’s MLS at +3000 – a massive longshot, but a reminder that soccer’s global landscape continues changing rapidly. Maybe he has a great time in the United States for the World Cup this summer?
What are the odds that Mbappé stays at Real Madrid?
We priced our market with Mbappé staying at Real Madrid resulting in a push because, by every measure, it remains the most likely outcome. But just how likely is it?
I asked our trading team for their assessment, and they estimated there’s roughly an 80% chance Mbappé is still playing at the Bernabéu next season.
