usa vs belgium predictions

Lumen Field in Seattle has hosted some of the biggest moments in American sports. NFC Championship Games. Monday Night Football classics. But it’s never staged anything quite like the United States vs Belgium in the World Cupa different kind of Monday Night Football.

The United States’ World Cup hopes are on the line as the Stars and Stripes face Belgium in the Round of 16.

When these two nations met at the same stage in 2014, Belgium ended the Americans’ tournament with a heartbreaking extra-time victory despite one of the greatest goalkeeping performances in World Cup history from Tim Howard. Twelve years later, the U.S. has its chance at revenge – and an opportunity to reach just its second World Cup quarterfinal of the modern era.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side also receives a timely boost, with Folarin Balogun available after his suspension was delayed. The striker’s return gives the Americans one of their most dangerous attacking weapons for the biggest soccer game ever held on American soil. Belgium, meanwhile, staged the comeback of the tournament to reach the last 16, rescuing a two-goal deficit against Senegal with just minutes remaining.

Whether you’re backing the Americans to finally settle the score or Belgium to spoil the party… again, Hard Rock Bet Sportsbook has every market covered. Moneyline? Check. Same Game Parlays? Check. Player props and anytime goalscorer bets protected by Super Sub? You bet.

Here’s everything you need to know before the 8 p.m. ET kickoff at Seattle Stadium, including my USA vs Belgium predictions and best bets.

USA vs Belgium Current Odds

Soccer betting under normal, non-knockout round circumstances, is conducted through a 3-way moneyline market, meaning bettors can take either team to win OR bet the draw. While this is a tournament and one of these teams will be eliminated, the 3-way moneyline market is alive and well. Each team, and the draw for USA-Belgium can be bet at the following prices:

  • 🇺🇸 USA to Win: +155
  • 🪢 Tie/Draw: +230
  • 🇧🇪 Belgium to Win: +175

Odds to Advance: USA-Belgium

Which team moves on – that’s it, that’s all you need to be concerned about when betting the ‘To Advance’ market. There’s no need to factor in a draw, who scores, when they score, if the game ends on penalties – you just need the team you bet on to win the game. The current Belgium vs USA odds to advance on hard Rock Bet Sportsbook are:

  • 🇺🇸 USA to Advance: -120
  • 🇧🇪 Belgium to Advance: -105

Who is favored to win? USA or Belgium?

Believe it or not, the United States are currently favored to beat Belgium in the World Cup. At the current -120 to advance price, the sports betting odds calculator assigns the USA a roughly 54% chance to moving on to the quarterfinals. At -105, the implied probability for Belgium is around 51%. It’s close to a pick’em, but the USA is the betting favorite.

USA vs Belgium Predictions

USA-Belgium Prediction: Over 2.5 goals (-165)

The Stats Hub tell us that over 2.5 goals has hit in each of Belgium’s last three World Cup knockout round matches against teams from other regions. Useful, yes, but a bit of a niche stat. But if we analyze this specific Belgium team at this specific tournament, their last two games have produced eleven goals. The United States are good in defense, but it’s a big ask for them to keep a clean sheet for 90 minutes against such a talented team.

On the other side, Team USA is going to attempt to bring a pressure and intensity that matches the occasion. They’ve managed multiple goals in every game so far, and I think they can do their part to getting us over 2.5 total goals. I like it.

USA v Belgium Best Bet: Charles De Ketelaere Anytime Goalscorer (+260)

I don’t think that Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku is going to start this game. He missed the majority of the club season with an injury and is just working himself back to fitness and has yet to start so far at this World Cup. However, against Senegal the countries all-time leading goalscorer replaced De Ketelaere at half time and scored Belgium’s first, crucial goal – igniting the comeback.

Therefore, this isn’t as much a bet on De Ketelaere as it is a Super Sub play. With the automatic bet protection promotion active, we can take De Ketelaere to score and if he doesn’t score, the substitution pattern, which has happened in three of Belgiums four games, indicates that he’s likely to be replaced at some point by Lukaku, who would continue our bet. Therefore we’re getting access to Lukaku at a better overall price – and of course, he could score by himself.

Forecasting Ahead: USA, Belgium World Cup Futures

  • 🇺🇸 USA to Win the World Cup: +2500 (25/1)

  • 🇧🇪 Belgium to Reach the Final: +1600 (16/1)
