The Boston Red Sox (27-37) and Tampa Bay Rays (38-25) are back in action Tuesday night for Game 2 of a three-game series at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.

The Rays got back in the win column Monday night with a 3-1 victory in the series opener behind Jonathan Aranda’s go-ahead RBI single in the fifth inning, a two-RBI performance from Yandy Díaz, and a strong effort from the six Tampa Bay pitchers who appeared in the game.

Tuesday’s matchup features an intriguing pitching duel between 23-year-old left-hander Payton Tolle and veteran right-hander Nick Martinez. Tolle, who has the seventh-best odds (+2500) to win the 2026 American League Rookie of the Year Award at Hard Rock Bet Sportsbook, tossed six shutout innings in his last start against Baltimore and owns a 2.28 ERA through eight starts this season.

Martinez, meanwhile, will look to rebound after allowing nine hits and six earned runs across four innings in a loss to Detroit his last time out. Despite that rough outing, he is still enjoying one of the best seasons of his career, entering Tuesday with a 5-2 record and a career-best 2.29 ERA.

The Rays will look to build on Monday’s victory and move further past their recent struggles, while the Red Sox aim to even the series and force a rubber match Wednesday afternoon.

Red Sox vs. Rays Best Bet: Ceddanne Rafaela Over 0.5 Hits

Ceddanne Rafaela is batting .304 since May 23 and .375 through the first six games of June. The young center fielder has recorded a hit in six of his last seven games, including three multi-hit performances, and has at least one hit in 11 of his last 13 contests.

Nick Martinez may own a 2.29 ERA, but he has allowed eight or more hits in each of his last three starts. Martinez is surrendering nearly six hits per start this season, and right-handed hitters are batting .283 against him. That could set up a hitter as hot as Rafaela for another productive night.
