The Seattle Mariners and New York Yankees wrap up their three-game set Thursday afternoon at Yankee Stadium, with New York looking to complete the sweep while Seattle tries to stop its season from slipping further away.

The Yankees enter the finale at 68-52, sitting six games behind the red-hot Tampa Bay Rays in the AL East after Tampa Bay extended its winning streak to nine games on Wednesday. Despite losing ground in the division race, New York remains in a comfortable postseason position with an 8.5-game cushion in the American League Wild Card standings.

Seattle is heading in the opposite direction. The Mariners have dropped six straight games to fall to 56-65 and now trail the Texas Rangers by four games for the final AL Wild Card spot. They remain within striking distance in the AL West as well, sitting 5.5 games behind the first-place Houston Astros, but the margin for error is shrinking quickly as the calendar moves deeper into August.

New York opened the series with a 4-1 victory on Tuesday night behind a strong outing from Ryan Weathers. The Yankees were held scoreless through six innings before breaking through with four runs in the seventh, including a two-run, go-ahead single from Ryan McMahon.

The Yankees followed that up with a 10-5 comeback win on Wednesday night. Seattle jumped ahead 3-0 in the first inning behind home runs from Randy Arozarena and Julio Rodríguez and later held a 5-3 advantage, but New York scored the final seven runs of the game. Trent Grisham led the charge with a monster performance, finishing 3-5 with two home runs, four RBI and three runs scored.

New York will now hand the ball to left-hander Max Fried as it goes for the sweep. Fried enters Thursday at 4-3 with a 2.88 ERA, while Seattle counters with ace right-hander Logan Gilbert, who is 8-7 with a 3.42 ERA across 139.1 innings.

Before locking in any bets, visit Hard Rock Bet Sportsbook and check out the Stats Hub, where players can dig into streaks and matchup trends across the entire MLB slate. With that in mind, one cold stretch stands out ahead of Thursday afternoon’s series finale:

Heliot Ramos Under 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBI (-125): Ramos has struggled throughout August, and his move from San Francisco to New York at the trade deadline has done little to turn things around. Ramos is batting just .125 this month, going 4-32 with no home runs or RBI. He has also struck out a whopping 14 times across 32 at-bats in August thus far.

Things have been even tougher since he joined New York. Across his first seven games as a Yankee, Ramos is just 2-24 (.083), and he has failed to record a hit in each of his last four games. He has finished under 1.5 combined hits, runs and RBI in ten consecutive contests, recording zero runs scored or batted in during that stretch.

There isn’t much batter-vs.-pitcher history to lean on against Gilbert, but Ramos is 1-for-3 with one strikeout in his career against Seattle’s starter. That’s far too small of a sample to carry much weight on its own, but Gilbert provides another challenging matchup for a hitter who hasn’t found his footing with his new club.

At a relatively modest -125 price, we’ll take a chance on Ramos’ cold stretch continuing and back him to stay under 1.5 hits+runs+RBI this afternoon.
