An interleague series between the Miami Marlins (49-42) and Seattle Mariners (47-44) begins Tuesday night in South Florida. Both teams enter Tuesday in playoff position, with the Marlins holding the third NL Wild Card spot and the Mariners leading the AL West.

The Mariners are coming off a series win over Toronto and have won five of their last six games. Right-hander Bryan Woo and his 4.17 ERA are set to take the mound in the series opener as he looks to regain the form that saw him post a sub-3.00 ERA in each of the past two seasons.

The Marlins have been one of baseball’s hottest teams since the start of June, posting a 23-8 record since June 1. They enter Tuesday after sweeping Seattle’s division rival, the Athletics, over the weekend. First-time All-Star Max Meyer will look to continue his dominant season as the right-hander brings a 9-1 record and 2.53 ERA into Tuesday night’s matchup.

Marlins vs. Mariners Best Bet: Otto López Over 0.5 Runs (+135)

Otto López has put together an outstanding season for the Marlins, earning his first career All-Star selection. He enters Tuesday leading MLB with a .346 batting average while ranking near the top of the league in several other offensive categories. The shortstop hit .340 in June and has remained red-hot to begin July, batting .522 through his first five games of the month.

As a hitter at the top of Miami’s lineup, López’s job is to get on base and score runs, and he has done exactly that all season. His .376 on-base percentage ranks 18th in MLB, while his 59 runs scored are tied for the fourth-most in baseball. He also ranked tied for third in runs scored during June and has crossed the plate in four of his five games this month, including twice in Sunday’s 9-8 victory over the Athletics.

Bryan Woo allowed 19 runs across 28.2 innings during his five June starts, including five or more runs in three of those outings. While his most recent start against the Angels was encouraging, the Marlins have scored 28 runs over their last three games and rank 12th in MLB in runs scored this season.
