Earlier this week before LeBron’s announcement, the 76ers were sitting at +2000 (20/1) to win the 2027 NBA Championship. Within minutes of the news breaking, that number had been cut all the way to +900 (9/1), instantly vaulting Philadelphia into the league’s top tier of championship contenders… an impressive single-day move.
A core featuring Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, Jaylen Brown, and now LeBron James suddenly gives the Sixers one of the most talented lineups in basketball. Health will always be the biggest question surrounding Philadelphia, but when that roster is on the floor, the ceiling is undeniable.
The LeBron Sweepstakes Losers
The Miami Heat, another team heavily rumored throughout the LeBron sweepstakes, actually saw their title odds remain unchanged at +2250 before and after the decision.
The Cleveland Cavaliers, meanwhile, drifted in the opposite direction, sliding from 25/1 (+2500) to 30/1 (+3000) after missing out on a reunion with the hometown hero.
Golden State, who opened around +650 to land LeBron, was trending out of the conversation in recent weeks and were largely priced out of the equation. When we bookmarked the odds earlier this week they were +4000, and remain +4000 to win the title after LeBron picked Philly.
Betting on LeBron’s Next Team
Hard Rock Bet first posted the LeBron James Next Team betting market back in May, opening with the 76ers at +5000 (50/1). At the time, the market was dominated by more obvious landing spots with favorites including:

Philadelphia wasn’t in the picture early on. As the offseason unfolded, the Sixers’ price drifted even longer, eventually reaching +7500 (75/1) as speculation centered around reunions in both Cleveland and Miami, or LeBron remaining in Los Angeles.
Then the dominoes began to fall.
On June 30, it was announced that LeBron James would not be returning to the Lakers for the 2026-27 season. One day later, the 76ers made perhaps the biggest move of the offseason by acquiring Jaylen Brown, suddenly giving Philadelphia one of the league’s most intriguing cores alongside Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.
