Hutton & Withrow’s Oregon vs. USC, UCLA vs. Maryland Picks & Predictions

This is the week. This is the week where we can lock it in.

Each week, we give out our Hard Rock Bet Locks of the Week, and we’re about to go 2-0 this week. We can feel it.

Let’s get into our two locks, along with a few other college football bets we considered this week.

Jonathan Hutton’s Hard Rock Bet Lock: Oregon vs. USC Over 62.5

I’m kicking things off here. I’m taking Oregon and USC Over 62.5 on the total. And here’s why.

We saw Oklahoma State put up 550 yards on Oregon. Rutgers just put up over 450 yards against USC’s defense. USC has 12 touchdown passes on the season. Oregon scored 84 last week. I don’t care who they’re playing. Eighty-four stands out to me.

Do I think both teams can score in the 30s? Yes. So, I’m taking Over 62.5 as my Hard Rock Bet Lock of the Week.

I also considered Indiana -20.5 against Northwestern. I mean, I haven’t thought about Indiana this season, and I’m thinking, come on. This is the team that’s trying to run it back, and they’re looking for a statement game. This is the first one they’ll have the opportunity to use.

But I didn’t take that. I’m going with the over in USC and Oregon in what’s going to be a home game for Oregon. I fully expect Oregon fans to take that.

Chad Withrow’s Hard Rock Bet Lock: UCLA -1.5 at Maryland

We’re about to go 2-0 this week. I can feel it in my loins when I look at these games.

I looked at two different Big Ten road favorites to cover the spread. I looked at Nebraska at Michigan State, and I think it’s now Nebraska -6.5 or -6. I think Nebraska wins that game comfortably. I don’t think Michigan State is very good.

The other one I looked at is the one I’m going to go with for my lock: UCLA -1.5 at Maryland. Look, I know this game’s early in the day, and it’s way early West Coast time for UCLA. I know about travel and all of that.

I think UCLA is flat-out better than Maryland. I think UCLA is going to do to Mike Locksley and Maryland what they did to James Franklin and Penn State a year ago, which was start the line – or maybe even end it – to fire the head coach.

UCLA and Nico, they’re going to go to College Park. They’re going to win by more than 1.5. Give me UCLA -1.5 as a slight road favorite to cover in the Big Ten.

I did look hard at taking Nebraska at Michigan State this week in their Big Ten opener, but I’m going UCLA on this one. Let’s go 2-0.

• UCLA vs. Maryland Pick: UCLA -1.5 (-110)

Other College Football Bets Withrow Likes This Week

Two other ones are in the state of Kentucky.

I looked at Kentucky -20.5 against South Alabama. I feel like Kentucky’s not going to have a letdown after that big win at A&M. They’re going to win by three touchdowns or more. And we just had Jared Stillman on. Louisville is a 13.5-point favorite over Wake Forest at home.

Both games are kind of a rat-poison week for those teams. Louisville is going into that game after a big win over SMU. Kentucky is coming off a big win over A&M. That’s why those lines are reflective of that.

They’re going to have a bit of an emotional letdown in those games. I like both to cover the spread. I would probably lean Louisville if I was going to take one or the other.

But again, for the Hard Rock Bet Locks segment, I’m going UCLA -1.5 as the lock. I really do like those other plays as well.
