The top spot in Group G and an automatic berth in the Round of 32 are on the line Friday night as Egypt faces Iran to conclude Friday’s World Cup slate.

Egypt enters atop the group with four points and has the clearest path to first place after opening its 2026 World Cup campaign with a 1-1 draw against Belgium before defeating New Zealand 3-1 on Sunday. After New Zealand grabbed an early lead in the 15th minute, Egypt responded with three second-half goals from Mostafa Ziko, Mohamed Salah, and Trézéguet.

Iran has opened the tournament with back-to-back draws, first playing New Zealand to a 2-2 draw before battling Belgium to a scoreless draw on Sunday. Although Belgium also enters Friday with two points, Iran currently holds the tiebreaker for second place thanks to scoring more goals.

Egypt can clinch the Group G title and a spot in the Round of 32 with a win Friday night. Iran, meanwhile, also needs a victory to guarantee a place in the knockout stage. Otherwise, it will need help from New Zealand against Belgium.

Egypt vs. Iran Three-Way Moneyline Pick: Egypt +135

Egypt enters Friday as the Group G leader and controls its own destiny. A victory secures first place in the group, while a loss would allow Iran to leapfrog Egypt in the standings.

A draw wouldn’t be a bad outcome for Egypt either, as it would guarantee a top-two finish and an automatic berth in the Round of 32, while still leaving open the possibility of winning the group depending on the result of New Zealand vs. Belgium.
