First place in the NL West is on the line once again Wednesday night as the Los Angeles Dodgers (30-19) take on the San Diego Padres (29-19) in the series finale at Petco Park.

The Padres won the series opener 1-0 behind seven shutout innings from Michael King and a solo home run by Miguel Andújar in the first inning. After falling behind 4-2 through three innings Tuesday night, the Dodgers battled back to take a 5-4 lead in the ninth inning and eventually secured the win to even the series at one game apiece.

Wednesday night’s finale features what could be a pitcher’s duel. Shohei Ohtani and his 0.82 ERA are scheduled to start for the Dodgers, while Randy Vásquez and his 2.68 ERA take the mound for the Padres.

Dodgers vs. Padres Current Odds

Here are two featured picks for Wednesday night’s series finale:

Dodgers vs. Padres Best Bet: Shohei Ohtani Over 7.5 Strikeouts

It’s Shohei Ohtani Day, so why not highlight one of his props? The four-time MVP has been dominant on the mound in 2026 and will look to continue that success Wednesday night against San Diego.

Ohtani has gone over 7.5 strikeouts in each of his last three starts and in four of his last five outings. The Padres have struck out 406 times this season, tied for the 12th-most in MLB entering Wednesday.

With Ohtani’s strikeout line sitting at plus money, it’s worth considering given the way he’s been pitching this season.

Dodgers vs. Padres Best Bet: Miguel Andújar Over 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBI

Miguel Andújar is enjoying a strong season for San Diego, entering Wednesday night with a .299 batting average. The veteran has been especially hot since May 12.

Andújar enters Wednesday riding an eight-game hitting streak that includes three multi-hit performances. He has seven extra-base hits during that span and has homered in back-to-back games entering the finale.

Not only is Andújar piling up hits lately, but he has also scored a run in five consecutive games and recorded at least one RBI in four of his last five outings. It’s also worth noting that 32 of his 40 hits and 13 of his 17 RBIs this season have come against right-handed pitching, which is what Ohtani throws.

Given his recent production, Andújar’s plus-money Hits+Runs+RBI prop still offers value even against Ohtani.

2026 NL Cy Young Odds: Ohtani’s Case

Shohei Ohtani is already one of the most accomplished players in baseball history and is on pace to become one of the greatest players ever, but there’s still one major award missing from his résumé: a Cy Young Award.

Ohtani’s closest finish came in 2022 with the Los Angeles Angels, when he placed fourth in AL Cy Young voting after posting a 15-9 record with a 2.33 ERA and 219 strikeouts across 28 starts. That same season, he also finished second in AL MVP voting.

A major reason Ohtani has yet to win a Cy Young Award is his injury history. The two-way superstar has dealt with multiple arm, shoulder, and elbow injuries throughout his career, including Tommy John surgery following the 2018 season. He was shut down from pitching during the 2019 and 2024 seasons and has made more than 20 starts only three times in his nine-year MLB career.

Although Ohtani hasn’t produced his usual elite numbers at the plate so far in 2026, the 31-year-old has been dominant on the mound. He enters Wednesday with a 0.82 ERA, a 0.818 WHIP, and 50 strikeouts across 44 innings through his first seven starts. Ohtani currently holds a tie for the third-best odds to win the 2026 NL Cy Young Award at +500 at Hard Rock Bet Sportsbook.

2026 NL Cy Young Award Odds:

  • Paul Skenes: +200 (favorite)
  • Cristopher Sánchez: +300
  • Jacob Misiorowski: +500
  • Shohei Ohtani: +500
  • Chris Sale: +600
