For Thursday’s match, I’m rolling with a pair of Canadians to rack up some shots on target.
I’m going with Cyle Larin 2+ shots on target at +160 odds.
I’m also backing his teammate, Jonathan David to put up 2+ shots on target at +180. Here’s why:
Canada certainly stalled out against Bosnia and Herzegovina in the first round, but they still dominated that match for all intents and purposes. They controlled possession at a 60% clip, completed 160 more passes, and had five more shots than Bosnia. They just had trouble getting them on goal, with only three shots landing on target. Two of those, though, came from the duo of Larin and David.
Meanwhile, Qatar was fortunate to escape its first round match against Switzerland with a 1-1 draw. They were out-shot 27-10, allowed the Swiss to control possession at a 70% clip, and were out-passed by 290 passes while Switzerland completed an astounding 93% of its passes.
Larin and David are expected to get the start again today. They’re averaging 1.25 and 2.0 shots on target per match, respectively, in friendlies this year. I expect them to tee off in front of their home crowd.
