Arsenal vs Man City Odds, Community Shield

English soccer’s top flight officially gets underway this weekend as Premier League champions Arsenal take on FA Cup winners Manchester City in the 2026 FA Community Shield.

Traditionally serving as the curtain-raiser for the new Premier League season, the Community Shield brings together the winners of England’s two biggest domestic competitions – the league and the FA Cup – for an early piece of silverware.

Below, we’ll break down everything you need to know about the 2026 Community Shield, including the latest oddsYES, you can bet on the Community Shield on Hard Rock Bet Sportsbook — betting picks and predictions ahead of Arsenal vs. Manchester City.

FA Community Shield Odds

The 3-way moneyline market (AKA the 1×2) is alive and well for the Community Shield, meaning bettors can take either team to win in regulation or back a tie:

  • 👑 Arsenal to Win: +210
  • 🪢 Draw/Tie: +240
  • 🏆 Manchester City to Win: +145

Community Shield To Win The Trophy Odds

Soccer bettors that don’t want to contend with the draw and penalties can simply bet a team to ‘Win the Trophy’. Current odds to win the community shield on Hard Rock Bet Sportsbook include:

  • 👑 Arsenal to Win: +100
  • 🏆 Manchester City to Win: -130

Who is favored to win the Community Shield?

Manchester City — Arsenal opened as the favorite here but are currently a very small betting underdog to win the 2026 Community Shield. Arsenal’s +100 odds to Win the Trophy carries an implied probability of approximately 50%. Conversely, City, priced at -130, have an implied probability of around 56%. This is pretty close to a pick’em bet with lineups announced.

Is there Extra Time in the Community Shield?

No – the Community Shield doesn’t go to extra time. If the game is tied after the 90 minutes + stoppage time they head straight to penalties.

Motivation: Does the Community Shield Matter?

If you’re new to following European soccer after betting the World Cup this summer you might find yourself asking: what is the Community Shield, and does it matter? Both are important questions for bettors looking to get a sense for each team’s motivation. So let’s dig into it:

YES – the Community Shield does matter… just not that much. At the end of the day it’s still considered to be an extension of pre-season preparations. There’s no extra time, teams are allowed six substitutions (compared to the normal five during a typical Premier League or Cup Game), and fitness plans aren’t likely to be abandoned for players that are still working their way back to match readiness ahead of the season.

With all of this said, Man City and Arsenal are massive rivals. The teams don’t like each other and both sides would love to add the 2026 Community Shield to their trophy cabinet.

Arsenal vs. Man City Prediction

  • Community Shield Betting Pick: Manchester City +145 (3-way ML)

Full disclosure this isn’t a Stats Hub play, so I’m going rogue a bit with Man City +175 on the 3-way moneyline as my Community Shield Best Bet. Here’s my rationale:

Arsenal haven’t been sharp in pre-season

The header says it all. The Champions just haven’t been sharp so far in pre-season play, losing 3-1 against Real Betis and 3-2 against Dortmund before a 1-1 draw with Como at home on Wednesday. Key players like Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Martin Zubimendi, Mikel Merino, and goalkeeper David Raya have all just returned to training after the World Cup. While they may be available, it would be surprising to see significant minutes with the team’s Premier League title defense set to start on Friday night.

So we have a team that’s still finding form ahead of the new season that now has to cope with Erling Haaland, the most lethal striker on the planet, and we’re getting a nice price at +145.

Manchester City need it more

Arsenal have won each of their last five Community Shield appearances dating back to 2014, including victories under Mikel Arteta in both 2020 and 2023. In each of those five matches, however, the Gunners entered as the challengers, facing the reigning champions of England. Arsenal seemed to relish those opportunities, with the occasion arguably meaning more to an ascending side looking to make a statement than to the defending champions across from them.

This time, the roles are reversed. Arsenal are the Premier League champions, while Manchester City are the team with something to prove. With Pep Guardiola gone, Enzo Maresca will be eager to kick off his City tenure with a statement victory and an early piece of silverware.
