Five consecutive victories have lifted Tom Nolan into the UFC lightweight rankings, but the 26-year-old Australian faces his biggest challenge yet as he takes on veteran contender Renato Moicano in Saturday’s Halloween main event at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas.

UFC Fight Night: Moicano vs. Nolan features 12 fights, with prelims beginning at 5 p.m. ET and the main card getting underway at 8 p.m. ET. The entire event will stream live on Paramount+.

Nolan (11-1) has bounced back from a first-round knockout loss to Nikolas Motta in his UFC debut with five consecutive wins, including finishes of Victor Martinez and Charlie Campbell. His most recent victory came against Fares Ziam, whom he defeated by unanimous decision to break into the lightweight Top 15.

Now ranked No. 14, Nolan gets his first UFC main event against an established fighter who has spent years competing against some of the division’s biggest names.

Moicano (21-7-1) enters Saturday ranked No. 12 following a second-round submission victory over Chris Duncan in April. The Brazilian has won three of his last five fights, with his only losses during that stretch coming against former lightweight champion Islam Makhachev and Beneil Dariush.

At 37, Moicano is looking to protect his place among the lightweight contenders, while Nolan has an opportunity to crack the division’s upper tier with a victory over the most experienced opponent of his career.

The co-main event brings an intriguing welterweight matchup between Randy Brown (20-8) and undefeated prospect Jacobe Smith (13-0).

Smith accepted the fight on short notice after scoring a first-round knockout of Bruce Whitehead earlier this month. The former Oklahoma State wrestler has finished all four of his UFC opponents and will be making his second Octagon appearance in less than a month.

Brown, meanwhile, is looking to rebound from a decision loss to Kevin Holland earlier this year. The longtime UFC veteran has won eight of his last 11 fights, including knockout victories over Nicolas Dalby and Muslim Salikhov.

The card also features a flyweight matchup between Ode’ Osbourne and Cody Durden, while Zachary Reese welcomes Mickey Gall back to the Octagon for his first fight in nearly two years.

Best Bet for UFC Fight Night: Moicano vs. Nolan

Ode’ Osbourne Moneyline (-105): Cody Durden has struggled to find any sort of consistency lately, losing five of his last six UFC appearances, including three losses by knockout or submission.

His lone victory during that stretch came against Jafel Filho in April, but he followed it with another setback in July, suffering a second-round submission loss to Alessandro Costa.

Osbourne hasn’t exactly been on a roll himself, but he presents an interesting matchup for Durden. The Jamaican flyweight holds a six-inch reach advantage despite both fighters standing 5-foot-7, giving him an opportunity to keep his opponent at distance and capitalize on openings during striking exchanges.

Durden has also been vulnerable defensively, absorbing nearly 3.9 significant strikes per minute. Osbourne has demonstrated his finishing ability with three stoppages in five UFC victories, including a second-round TKO of Luis Gurule last year.

Durden’s wrestling ability remains a concern, particularly if he can close the distance and bring the fight to the mat. However, Osbourne absolutely has the physical tools and striking ability to make those exchanges difficult for his opponent.

If Osbourne can keep the fight standing, his reach and finishing ability give him a favorable path to victory at nearly even money.
