The NLCS shifts to Dodger Stadium for Game 3 as the Los Angeles Dodgers host the Milwaukee Brewers Wednesday night. These two teams finished with the top two records in MLB at the end of the regular season, but the National League’s No. 1-seeded Brewers have gotten the best of the defending back-to-back World Series champion Dodgers so far, carrying a 2-0 series lead into Game 3.

The Brewers found themselves in a tightly contested NLDS against San Diego but ultimately came out on top and advanced after four games. Milwaukee again found itself in a close game in the NLCS opener against Los Angeles, but Brice Turang delivered with a game-tying solo home run in the fourth inning before rookie outfielder Luis Lara hit a go-ahead RBI single in the fifth that ultimately proved to be the game-winner in the Brewers’ 2-1 victory.

Game 2 wasn’t quite as low-scoring, with both teams scoring a run in the first inning before trading runs throughout much of the game. Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning to give Los Angeles a 4-3 lead, but that was the end of the Dodgers’ offense.

Brewers catcher William Contreras hit a game-tying 436-foot home run in the bottom of the fifth and then came through again with a go-ahead RBI single in the sixth to put Milwaukee up 5-4. The Brewers later added two insurance runs in the eighth inning, and Aaron Ashby recorded the save in the ninth to secure a 7-4 win and a 2-0 lead in the NLCS.

Rookie left-hander Robert Gasser is scheduled to start for the Brewers in Game 3 with a chance to help his team take a 3-0 series lead. Gasser really found his rhythm late in the regular season, posting a 1.67 ERA across five September starts. Although it wasn’t his first career postseason appearance, he made his first career playoff start in Milwaukee’s series-clinching Game 4 win over San Diego in the NLDS, allowing three hits and one earned run over four innings.

The Dodgers will counter with veteran left-hander Blake Snell, who missed most of the regular season due to injury but still posted a 4-1 record with a 1.90 ERA across nine starts. The two-time Cy Young Award winner started Game 2 of the NLDS against Atlanta, which was the only game Los Angeles lost in that series, but it was through no fault of his own. Snell allowed just three hits and one earned run while recording five strikeouts over 3.2 innings. He owns a career 7-5 playoff record with a 3.23 ERA in 19 appearances.

Brewers vs. Dodgers Predictions

Two of the best teams in MLB, who also happen to have the two shortest odds to win the 2026 World Series, continue to battle in this best-of-seven NLCS. Dodgers vs. Brewers Best Bet: Dodgers Moneyline (-180)

The Dodgers have a chance to put their name in the history books with a potential World Series three-peat, but to keep that dream alive, they must first overcome the Brewers’ 2-0 lead in the NLCS. That starts now because another loss Wednesday would make Los Angeles’ path to the World Series extremely difficult. Only one team in MLB history has ever overcome a 3-0 deficit in a best-of-seven playoff series: the Boston Red Sox in the 2004 ALCS against the New York Yankees.

The Dodgers do have a few things going for them heading into Game 3 despite trailing in the series. For one, the Stats Hub notes that Los Angeles has won each of its last nine home playoff games against NL Central opponents.

The Dodgers have also had success against Brewers starting pitcher Robert Gasser this year. Gasser allowed four hits, four walks, and four earned runs over 4.1 innings in a loss to Los Angeles on May 23. He then surrendered eight hits and three earned runs, including two home runs, over 6.1 innings in another loss to the Dodgers on Aug. 14.

The Dodgers’ star-studded lineup must come through Wednesday night to avoid a disastrous 3-0 deficit. It also helps that Blake Snell will be on the mound for Los Angeles.
