The Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers open a four-game series Thursday night at Dodger Stadium in a matchup between two of the National League’s top teams.
Milwaukee enters the series with the NL’s best record at 74-47, holding a three-game advantage over the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central. The Brewers have hit their first rough patch in a while, however, arriving in Los Angeles on a three-game losing streak after being swept by the San Diego Padres.
Los Angeles, on the other hand, comes into Thursday’s opener on the heels of a three-game sweep of the Kansas City Royals at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers have won three straight and four of their last five, with Mookie Betts homering in each of his last two games and Shohei Ohtani also going deep in Wednesday’s series finale.
It was a much-needed turnaround for the NL West leaders, who had dropped eight of nine games before returning home for their current seven-game homestand. The Dodgers have quickly steadied themselves and now have an opportunity to keep rolling against the team sitting directly ahead of them in the National League standings.
Thursday’s pitching matchup features rookie left-hander Shane Drohan for Milwaukee against Roki Sasaki for Los Angeles. Drohan enters at 6-4 with a 3.87 ERA and 1.25 WHIP over 93 innings, while Sasaki is 5-5 with a 4.54 ERA and 1.26 WHIP across 105 innings.

Best Bet for Brewers vs. Dodgers
Before placing any wagers, head over to Hard Rock Bet Sportsbook‘s Stats Hub. It’s loaded with trends, streaks, and matchup data for every baseball game on the slate. With that in mind, one struggling Brewers hitter stands out entering Thursday night’s series opener:
Garrett Mitchell Under 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBI (-165): Mitchell has been stuck in an extended slump to begin August. Through his first 12 games of the month, Mitchell is batting just .108 (4-37) with only three runs scored, one RBI and one extra-base hit. He has yet to homer in August and has struck out 15 times, producing a .108/.298/.135 slash line and .433 OPS.
Mitchell has stayed under 1.5 combined hits, runs and RBI in each of his last five games. He has totaled exactly one H+R+RBI in two of those contests while finishing with zero combined hits, runs and RBI in the other three.
There also isn’t any direct matchup history available, as Mitchell has never faced Sasaki. That unknown adds some uncertainty, and Sasaki has been trending in the right direction while Mitchell continues to struggle to generate meaningful at-bats.
With Mitchell batting well below the Mendoza line this month and facing a talented right-hander who has started to find his form, we’ll continue riding the cold stretch and back under 1.5 hits+runs+RBI.
